Kanto Champions- Monogen / OU Team

Welcome to the RMT, and thank you for reading.

The "Kanto Champions" is a Pokemon team designed for the Monogen tier, and, potentially, the OU tier as well. If successful, it will also be used in Tournaments as well.

The idea for this team originated from playing Leaf Green version, which made me realize that I had never made an official Kanto region team. I have also never competed in the Monogen tier, so I decided to make a team from the original region.

This team currently is in it's earliest stages of development, and has yet to be tested due to problems with my computer (I am using my sister IPad). Advice is wanted, and I had encourage you to test it.

The Team

Jolteon (F) @ Air Baloon

Ability: Volt Absorb
EV's: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Discharge
- Hidden Power (Ice)
- Agility
- Baton Pass

Jolteon is the Lead. She applies her extremely high Speed and Special Attack to combat other opposing Leads and any threat to the team. The Electric+Ice combination has excellent coverage that is only resisted by Electric/Steel type Pokemon. Agility raises her Speed to unrivaled levels: she is enabled to outspeed every Pokemon, with or without a Choice Scarf. Agility+Baton Pass allows Jolteon's slower teammates to outspeed foes that they could otherwise not.
*This set was used over the Wish+Volt Switch set due to Jolteon's mediocre Attack and HP stats; other Pokemon outclass it with this strategy (ex. Chansey).

Gyarados (M) @ ???

Ability: Intimidate
EV's: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance
Gyarados is the "Taunter". He uses the combination of his naturally high Special Defense and HP with his Ability, Intimidate, to switch in on any Physical threat or Set-Up user. Gyarados' secondary Typing, Flying, grants him immunity to Ground type moves, which can threat the Lead (Jolteon) and Special Sweeper (Nidoking). Dragon Dance is used to transform Gyarados into a frightening Physical Sweeper that uses the Water+Rock type Combination for coverage.

Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb

Ability: Sheer Force
EV's: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Mild Nature (+SAtk, -Def)
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Sucker Punch
- Blizzard
Nidoking is the Special Sweeper. His Sheer Force Ability, Life Orb, and wide movepool grant him the potential to be a threat, especially after an Agility Baton Pass. Earth Power receives A MASSIVE boost due to his Ability, Item, and STAB. Fire Blast+Blizzard are for coverage, and Sucker Punch KO's Psychic's who dare attack.

Pinsir (M) @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Moxie
EV's: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- X-Scissor
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
Pinsir is the Physical Sweeper. Pinsir uses his Choice Scarf and massive Attack to finish off weakened foes and accumulate Attack boost from his Moxie Ability. His wide Physical movepool permits coverage against several Pokemon, and allows him to Sweep and activate Moxie, transforming him to a formidable force.

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite

Ability: Natural Cure
EV's: 4 Spd / 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Heal Bell
- Seismic Toss
- Stealth Rock
Chansey is the Support/Cleric. Her sky high HP, strong Special Defense, and the Evilote item make her durable enough to take hits and support her team by clearing status with Heal Bell or passing HP recovers to her teammates. Seismic Toss grant her decent damage, and Stealth Rock penalizes the opponent's Pokemon for switching in, crediting Chansey for dealing damage in the long run.

Starmie @ ???

Ability: Natural Cure
EV's: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Recover
- Rapid Spin
Starmie is the Rapid Spinner. It can clear bothersome Entry Hazards with Rapid Spin, or use it's high Special Attack and Speed to weaken or possibly KO. Natural Cure allows it to absorb Status alignments and, of course, an opportunity to switch in. Recover is used to restore HP that may have been lost due to being hit, suffering from a Status Alignment, or Entry Hazards.

This team can always be improved and is open to advice.

Once again, Thank You for your time.
