If I can't trade the one I have; is there a way to get a different one to trade?

I wanna steal their stupid Pokemon...

No you can't steal. Sadly enough the game rejected a Lv.1 Volcarona I tried to put up for trade like that. So my source is a past failed attempt. Sorry :(
