PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

As anyone who has viewed one of my questions would know, I am trying to catch all the Pokemon Black 2,
But I don't have any friends that like Pokemon or live in the same city to me.
I can't seem to set up an Internet Connection for my 3ds,
I do have another 3ds but it has broken down.
So why did Game Freak make it so that Some Pokemon can only evolve when generally traded,
Traded while holding a Pokemon,
Or Traded for One specific Pokemon?
And as per usual,
Thanks to whoever answers! :)

Basically, it's for 2 reasons...

  1. So they can make profit when you buy an extra system.

  2. You can say this is Nintendo's way of having players be 'social'.

Basically, it's supposed to be all fun and games and meet people and trade with them and battle. You know, making a good image for the game/company. Also, it proves a challenge to complete your pokedex, and would be a bit too easy to collect all Pokemons if it didnt recquire any communications with other players.

yes I agree. This goes all the way back to the first games. Back then it wasn't about money, just a labour of love to make great games. The creator of pokemon wanted players to be sociable and meet new people, especially as the Gameboy required a link cable at that point so force players together. It is the same reason why there are version exclusives; a challenge to complete the pokedex and encouraging pokemon to be more of a social hobby
