Hidden power [Rock]-covers most weaknesses with a single move.

Nasty plot-skyrockets special attack.

Energy Ball-STAB.

Focus Blast-Focus blast is a good move to use, though unreliable.

-He has nasty plot, but a crappy special movepool...what a shame that they toss away several pokemon like this when designing them.

Subseeder: (He's basically a weaker sceptile.)

Leech seed-you already know...

Energy ball-yep; STAB...

Protect/hidden power [Fire]/[Rock]-protect lets him stall on top of substitute, hidden power fire covers grass types that try to switch in, rock covers weaknesses.

This is the set I'm going to use on my 31 Sp.Atk IV shiny Simisage, if it's HP is rock. I'll run rock slide and go mixed subseeder if he doesn't.

Special Sweeper:

Simisage (M) @ Focus Sash

Trait: Overgrow

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

  • Nasty Plot
  • Energy Ball
  • Hidden Power [Rock]
  • Focus Blast

Point in set, with timid he's pretty fast, for NU he's good there, Nasty plot and hold on with sash, Overgrow Activates, Sweep with Energy ball and Hp Rock, Focus Blast is mainly a filler.

Physical Sweeper:

Simisage (M) @ Choice Band

Trait: Overgrow

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Seed Bomb
  • Shadow Claw
  • Rock Slide
  • Brick Break

Without something to boost up his attack, he needs Choice Band to be able to actually do something, Jolly still gives him good speed, and he has a nice variety of moves to sweep with.

His attack is decent enough to run unbanded, at 98 base.

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

  • Seed Bomb
  • Rock Slide

The evolved form of the starter variation like grass monkey. Unfortunately, the only use I see them for is as type help, seeing as Fire, Water, and Grass types are rare before the first Gym Leader in most games.

Ability: Overgrow

EVs: Sp Attack, Speed, HP Nature: Modest

Nasty Plot: Of course.

Energy Ball: STAB.

Focus Blast: Good type coverage.

Grasswhistle: Puts the foe to sleep.

Cheer up-raises attack and special attack.

Leaf Storm/energy ball/Seed bomb-LS Works well since you have the physical moves to fall back on, or you can use energy ball for better reliability.

Rock Slide/Hidden power[Rock]-Type coverage...

Crunch/Shadow claw-Crunch for power, or shadow claw If you want to chance a critical hit.

If anybody is looking for a physical simisage opinion, here's mine:

Nature: Jolly/Brave

Seed Bomb: STAB bonus + good power, one of the only physical grass moves. Fairly obvious move.

Payback/Crunch: Payback for Brave ones, Crunch for jollies. Covers Ghost and Psychic threats.

Rock Slide: Covers Flying weakness.

Grasswhistle: Sleeping Foes! :D

Brick Break/Shadow Claw

Simisage (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 62 Atk / 196 SAtk / 252 Spd
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Hone Claws
- Focus Blast
- Crunch
- Seed Bomb

I like mine as a mixed sweeper.

Hone claws catches your attack up to your special attack and actually boosts it over a little bit. It also gives you the accuracy to use Focus Blast reliably.

Now you have Crunch and Focus Blast for great coverage AND good power ( Brick Break is just.. lacking ). Seed Bomb handles your standard STAB and is powered up even more by Overgrow after you get hit down to 1 HP.

  • Rock Slide: epic Coverage, and weakness

Here is my version of a SubSeeder set that I love. It works pretty well in the sun, improving his healing.

Simisage (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 124 Def / 124 SpD / 8 Spd
Impish Nature

  • Substitute
  • Leech Seed
  • Synthesis
  • Seed Bomb

I think pretty much everybody knows how a SubSeeder works, but I'll explain it anyway. Set up a Sub when you predict a switch, then use Leech Seed. The only downside to this set is that Serperior runs it waaay better because of its higher speed and defenses.
