Well, my rough guess would be 5-7 hours. when I check after 5-7 hours there is usually something there. waiting more than a day wont work though, the pokemon won't stay that long.
It take less than(I timed it)/ around 7 hours for a pokemon to appear on a honey tree. After a day the pokemon will dissapear.
