trying to catch a munchlax on platinum could this work

when i see a tree shaking could i save it and if its not a munchlax could i turn it off and turn it back on and it be another pokemon? Or would it always be the same pokemon

The Pokemon will not change. What will change are: gender, IVs, level, and nature.

Yes, I tried it on my Platinum as well. Bulbapedia says it also.
