How long does it take for A pokemon to appear after smearing honey?

It takes at least 6 hours for a Pokemon to appear once Honey is slathered on a tree. If you leave a tree unchecked for 24 hours, the Honey and the Pokemon will disappear.

6 HOURS??? This will take forever!!!!! Now I'll smell flowers for the next 6 hours...(my brain when I'm in Flaroma tow/Meadow I start to smell flowers)
