Aerodactyl @ Razor Fang/King's Rock
Jolly (+ Spd, -SAtk)

  • Rock Slide (Flinch + STAB)
  • Iron Head (Flinch + Coverage)
  • Bite/(Fire/Ice/Thunder) Fang (Flinch + Coverage)
  • Earthquake (a must)

:D flinch
All mighty flinch king ! =^.^=
I have to call the flinch abuse center.......
lol just joking ;p
Instead of King's Rock you should have Scope Lens as King's Rock only gives a 10% chance to flinch on moves that have no chance to flinch yet all of these moves do except for earthquake and King's Rock would be a waste if you only wanted it to give Earthquake a 10% chance to flinch.

As fire knocks out 2 of his weaknesses, I would get Fire Fang
Stone Edge(strong STAB)
Earthquake(u know y!)
Iron Head or Crunch(whichever one you like best!!)

Hope this Helps!

Taunt: Good move for a lead.

Stealth Rock: Aother good lead move.

Roost: Heals Aerodactyl.

Stone Edge: STAB.

A great option is Substitute, which Aerodactyl can use with Roost. Aqua Tail is a good move. Ice Fang is another good move, as is Fire Fang. Fire Blast can be used to deal with special foes.

Gen V

Aerodactyl (M) @ Focus Sash

Trait: Pressure

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Stealth Rock
  • Whirlwind
  • Taunt
  • Stone Edge

Classic lead. Use Taunt to stop the opponent from setting up entry hazards and Taunting you. Then set up stealth Rock. Use Whirlwind to damage the foes team, while also finding out what their team is. This can give you an advantage as you'll know which of your Pokemon you'll have to protect so they can deal with the foe's Pokemon, while also damaging the foe's team, destroying Focus Sashes and making them easier to defeat. Stone Edge is so you can attack if need be. Focus Sash allows you to survive if you guessed wrong with Taunt, allowing you to still set up stealth Rock. Max Speed so you can get everything in and outspeed the foe, that way they can't Taunt you. Attack EVs for Stone Edge.

Double/Triple Battle

Aerodactyl (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Tailwind
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Fly

Tailwind provides team support. Rock Slide gets STAB and hits multiple foes. Earthquake hits multiple foes. Fly is STAB that can hit any foe and is good in Triple because the foe can't as easily predict you. It also allows for classic Will Pressure stalling.

Nature: Adamant

  • Earthquake

This moveset covers all of its weakness and it has 193 normal effectiveness and 476 super effective. With Choice Band Aerodactyl can almost destroy whole teams, I think.

you can only get this with a Firered or Leafgreen, and then data drain forward to Soul Silver or Heart Gold:

Ability: Rock Head
Held item: muscle band

Double Edge/ high atk, with no down time, and the ability gaurds against the 1/3 damage recoil.
[go to the move tutor on victory road, he will teach this just once. for some reason, the later move tutors do not teach this move to Aerodactyl, and you can not breed it into the Pokemon, in advance games or DS games. I have already tried multiple times, in every way I could think of, despite the poke guides I bought lacking the move in learned, TM, egg, and tutor move sets for ds onward... so sad. T.T]

Sky Attack/ it has a power-up moment, but with high atk, STAB bonus, 30% flinch possibility, and high crit. hit rate, this is awesome.
[a heafty 64 battle points will gain this from the Battle Frontier move tutors]

Earthquake/ high attk, gets rid of those pesky electric, rock and steel Pokemon for the most part. Also, it doesnt bring you in direct contact with opponents with contact abilities, which are often of types that are weak to ground-type moves- electric, poison, fire....
[good ole TM 26. you can get extras of this by getting a pickup ability pkmn and leveling it up high.]

Roost/ if you EV train aerodactyl for the Def and sp.Def value, this is perfect against that guy that thought he was finally rid of your Aerodactyl.

Aerodactyl @ Shell Bell
Trait: Pressure
Impish Nature (+Def -Atk)
EVs 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

  • Incinerate (Covers Steel and Ice weakness, good power, burns berries)
  • Earthquake (Covers Water, Rock and Electric weakness and AMAZING POWER!)
  • Crunch (Good damage, lowers def)
  • Sky Drop (Stalling, STAB and DO NOT use against flying type)
answered Dec 20, 2013 by Bob Mcfluffykins
Why are you putting a special move on Aerodactyl? Special attack is his worst stat at 60.
• Thunder Fang
• Earthquake
• Smack Down
• Aerial Ace/Roost

Thunder Fang and Earthquake both provide lots of type coverage. Aerial Ace is just for STAB, but it can be replaced by Roost to get health back if you like. The reason Smack Down is there is for three reasons.
1. Provides STAB.
2. Provides coverage.
3. Can be used in case the opponent is weak to Earthquake, but for some reason is immune to it (Magnet Rise, Levitate, etc).

Mega-Aerodactyl Tyranitar

Ability: Tough Claws (Boosts the power of contact moves by 33%)
EVs: 252 ATK, 252 SPE, 4 SP.DEF
Nature: Jolly (+SPE, -SP.ATK)
Characteristic: Alert to sounds (+SPE, 31IVs)

  1. Rock Slide - Powerful STAB rock move that hits two opponents with a chance to flinch and covers Tyranitar's weakness to BUG.

  2. Aerial Ace - STAB flying move that will definitly hit (apart from someone flying etc.) that covers Tyranitar's weaknesses to BUG, GRA and FIG.

  3. Thunder Fang - Electric move that covers Mega-Aerodactyl's and Tyranitar's weakness to WAT as well as having a chance to paralyze [10%] and flinch [10%] if the target has not yet moved (bearing in mind Mega-Aerodactyl's base Speed stat is 150.

  4. Fire Fang - Fire move that covers Mega-Aerodactyl's weaknesses to ICE and STE and Tyranitar's weaknesses to BUG, GRA and STE as well as having a chance to burn [10%] and flinch [10%] if the target has not yet moved (bearing in mind Mega-Aerodactyl's base Speed stat is 150.

Tyranitar@Assault Vest (Increases SP.DEF by 50% but no status moves can be used)
Ability: Sand Stream (Wipes up a sandstorm that damages non-rock, steel or ground type Pokemon or those without the ability magic guard, sand force or overcoat)
EVs: 252 DEF, 128 ATK, 128 HP
Nature: Relaxed (+DEF, -SPE)
Characteristic: Capable of taking hits (+DEF, 31IVs)

  1. Earthquake - Extremely powerful ground move that hits all opponents (Aerodactyl isn't hit) as well as covering Aerodactyl's weaknesses to ELE, ROC and STE and Tyranitar's weakness to STE.

  2. Crunch - Powerful STAB move that provides type coverage.

  3. Curse/Rest - Increases Tyranitar's DEF and ATK however Tyranitar's SPE is lowered though it is already low and less valuable than its' DEF/Restores Tyranitar's HP and heals it of hindering status problems like a burn that lowers attack of paralysis that has a 25% of preventing Tyranitar from moving.

  4. Iron Head - Powerful steel move that provides type coverage has a chance to flinch [30%] if the target hasn't moved as well as covering Tyranitar's weakness to FAI and Aerodactyl's weaknesses to ICE and ROC.

With minimum SP.DEF, this Tyranitar has a SP.DEF of 552 at level 100 with a sandstorm raging [SP.DEF x2] and an Assault Vest [SP.DEF x1.5]: 184 x 2 x 1.5 = 552. This Tyranitar also has a DEF of 350. This Tyranitar has an ATK of 336.

This Mega-Aerodactyl has a SPE of 438 and with minimum SP.DEF a SP.DEF of 350 at level 100 with a sandstorm raging [SP.DEF x2]: 175 x 2 = 350. Considering tough claws, this Mega-Aerodactyl has an ATK of 451 [rounded].

Fly? how can you use Fly?
@KT It's a bit difficult to use, but the damage is worth it.
You're better off going with Aerial Ace.
There. Happy now?   -_-
Uhh sure...
