  • Waterfall (STAB + AMAZING with Swampert's attack)
  • Avalanche (for grass coverage, complements Hammer Arm)
  • Hammer Arm (good power and accuracy)
  • Earthquake (obviously)

Trachy, I think Ice Punch is a much more usefull move then avalanche. and to KizerKing, that is an awefull moveset considering swamperts low sp. att
this set's fantastic under trick room
KizerKing Swampert has a extremely low Sp att so your move set is completely useless, its a very poor and weak moveset
Swampert's also my Favorite (Starter/Water) Pokemon!  (First Pokemon I chose when I first played Pokemon Sapphire on my GBA!)
As for the water move, I usually like to use Surf, but based on the Type Coverage Tool, the following move types are best if you want to cover a lot of Pokemon's Weakness(es):  Rock/(Flying covers more, but that's impossible for Swampert), Ice, Fighting, & Ground - Type Moves.

I have 2 Move recomendations for each Type.  They are divided between whether the moves make contact with the opposing pokemon or not, except the Fighting-Type Moves, since they both make contact.
Ice = Ice Punch/Icebeam (whichever's your favorite or prefered move)
Rock = Rock Slide/Stone Edge (whichever's your favorite or prefered move)
Fighting = Brick Break/Hammer Arm (whichever's your favorite or prefered move)
Ground = Earthquake/Bulldoze (for those who want a physical (contact) ground move - I think it makes Physical Contact)

For those who still want to use a Water Move, You have two choices to choose from, but I recommended the following moves depending on which attack you have for your ground move.  Though your free to use both Earthquake and Surf at the same time.  Personally, I usually use Surf, but Waterfall may be good too.  I never used waterfall with Swampert before, partly/mostly because the battle(s) usually ends with just one attack, (Well, most of the time...), so I don't know how well Waterfall works with Swampert.
Water = Surf (with Bulldoze) / Waterfall (with Earthquake)

Also, if your going to make room for a water move, I'd suggest replacing the Ground-Type Move with the Water-Type Move as you would cover more pokemon that way than if you had replaced the Fighting-Type Move instead.
This is really a matter of Personal Opinion and Preferences/Prefered Choices...
Pikamatrics your comments on his movesets are completely uncalled for how about ''Swampert doesn't have very good sp. attack so you should change the attacks but the typee coverage is pretty good'' which is my answer to his.

Swampert (M) @ Rindo Berry
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Mirror Coat
- Roar
- Counter
- Stealth Rock

answered May 1, 2011 by trachy
maybe the Roar move should be changed to Earthquake, the mirror coat should changed to Surf and the counter should change to stone edge or ice beam
Thi Swampert is meant to be a Defensive Pokemon/ Phazer.
oh, i should know then
how do you get stealth rocks on swampert or you cant on x and y?

Swampert (M) @ Wise Glasses

Role: Special Attacking Lead

Trait: Torrent

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Sp Atk / 4 Sp def

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Earth Power
  • Hidden Power [Fire]
  • Stealth Rock

Swampert @ Leftovers

Trait: Torrent

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA

Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spe)

  • Substitute
  • Focus Punch
  • Earthquake
  • Ice Beam/Ice Punch

Substitute allows it to pull off Focus Punch and is good all around protection.
Focus Punch has very good power and can be used pretty reliably thanks to Sub.
STAB Earthquake has very good power as well.
Ice Beam rounds out the coverage by hitting Flying types, mainly.
Ice Punch can also be used if you prefer to stick to Physical moves.
Brave nature is used to boost attack while still not lowering any of the defenses or SpA so Ice Beam can be used.

Ice Punch>Ice Beam, due to his low Sp.A.

Well, let's see what we have here... Bulky Water type with only one weakness, amazing Attack stat, and can set up Rocks... Let's begin, shall we?

Swampert @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 HP / 80 Def
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

So, the goal of this set is only to set up Stealth Rock. If you accomplish that and can take another hit or two or twenty, then this set provides some physical coverage for you. Waterfall just lets you hit anything like the firetrucker you are. Earthquake and Stone edge let you form an EdgeQuake combo, thus meaning nothing will be resisting these moves. Working best in OU (with this set), you are guaranteed to take stuff down, or set up rocks at least :P

Tank Swampert

Ability: Torrent
Item: Rindo Berry
Nature: Adamant (+ Atk, -SpA) OR Careful (+SpD, -SpA)
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 SpD, 4 HP OR 252 HP, 252 SpD, 4 Atk
- Waterfall- physical STAB move
- Earthquake- coverage, STAB, and generally awesome
- Curse- increase your power and bulkiness while reduce your pointless speed
- Stone Edge/Avalanche- high power coverage move

Careful raises SpD, not Speed.
That's what he put. SpD is Special Defense, not Speed. Spe is Speed.
For me this is the Perfect Swampert:Careful!

Doubles Support Swampert
Swampert (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Atk / 36 SDef
Careful Nature
- Wide Guard
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Roar

Wide Guard and Roar are handy in that Wide Guard allows your team to avoid spread damage attacks, allowing the partner to avoid damage from the likes of Earthquake, Rock Slide, etc. while attacking the opponent, and Roar can force out a potentially burdensome opponent, like a trick room user (it should be noted that roar has a greater priority than trick room) and disorient the opposing player. The EVs allow Swampert to survive a water gem boosted Hydro Pump from Politoed in rain, Latias's dragon gem draco meteor, and even support Thundurus's Grass Knot to name a few, while also granting Swampert considerable attacking power.

Swampert @ Petaya Berry
Trait: Torrent
EVs 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Hp / 4 Atk
Quiet Nature
~Hydro Pump
~Earth Power
~Ice Punch

So everyone knows how "SubPetaya Empleon"was a threat in UU Thats how I came up with this set Tho Swampert isn't the fastest he is pretty bulky and has an average Sp.Atk stat with can be worked around with EV investment. So basically the strategy is to set up sub till your down to 25% then Smash. AnywayFeel free to leave comments on this

Ice punch can be exchanged with Hammer arm.
My opinion.
I upvotesd this set because I know what mixed swampert can do to people. Its very good!  And gaba, he needs ice punch to blast ice types to oblivion.

This one's my personal favorite. Swampert is beast!

Swampert @Assault Vest
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 HP, and 4 Def
Nature: Adamant (+Att , -Sp.Att)

  • Waterfall (STAB and chance to flinch)
  • Earthquake (Awesome move, STAB)
  • Avalanche/Ice Punch (Coverage. Avalanche is better IMO)
  • Stone Edge/Hammer Arm (Coverage. I usually run Stone Edge but Hammer Arm is good if you have no Fighting attack)

This was my first post on this website so thanks for reading!

Try getting up rain before sending him in, and then just sweep.

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def-SpD

- Ice Punch/Avalanche

My favorite set at the moment for Swampert.

My swampert has
Rock slide
Hydro canon
Power up punch
Can Mega Swampert be a Jolly Nature too to have a good moveset?
@jacobalex98 Yeah sure, but I would put as much as possible in Attack because it would hit more hard and on a rain team you really don't need so much investment in Speed

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 252 Atk / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rain Dance
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch

Swampert is a monster in the rain. Rain Dance is in my opinion, the better option rather than wasting a slot for Politoed in a team, since Swampert definitely has the bulk for setting up a Rain Dance with 100/110/110. Once in the Rain, you can outspeed almost everything barring Scarfed Greninja and kill them with that epic 150 attack with a rain-boosted STAB Waterfall.

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD or 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Impish or Careful Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Rest
- Sleep Talk/Toxic/Yawn/Roar

And lets make use of those good defenses with a ResTalk set to take hits and wear opponents down. Swampert has 336 attack uninvested, so it'll still hit things relatively hard for such a defensive Pokemon. Get in there with STAB Waterfall and Earthquake, then Rest and Sleep Talk for healing and continuing to get damage off. Toxic can also work if your team needs it, or Yawn or Roar for forcing switches.

Toxic+Protect is a deadly combo. Earthquake is for coverage annoying Steel types. Avalanche covers Grass Types.

Just a note: I use this same set on my Marshtomp, but instead of Avalance use Waterfall, that also works pretty nice for the little dude.
if you still want an ice-type move, change Avalanche with Ice-Beam. Whilst they both have incredible accuracy, ice-beam does more damage, but also due to the slow speed of Swampert, Avalanche will do around the same damage too...up to you
Not really, Ice Beam is Special, and I think Marshtomp has bad SAtk.

I think that with the speed Swampert has, I won't boost it.

Swampert (M) @ Muscle band - Physical tank
EVs- 128 hp/252 attack/128 defence
Nature- adamant(+attack,-sp attack)
Ability- torrent
- waterfall- stab
- earthquake- stab
- brick break- nice coverage. Breaks reflect & light screen
- curse- nice stat boosting move

answered Nov 29, 2011 by Eoko
really good moves but you should replace curse with bulk up so his speed isn't lowered
Swampert already has really bad speed, it doesn't matter
His speed is bad, but bulk up would be better so that he can out speed other swamperts.

The Best Ever Moveset For Swampert (can used to beat all elite fours at:sapphire,Emerald and
Ruby but, requires at level 100 to beat all elite fours on sapphire, emerald and ruby):

-Surf:power:95 pp:15
accuracy:100 can be used to surf around the water surfaces

-Waterfall:power:80 pp:15
accuracy:100 can be used to climb waterfalls

-Ice Beam:power:95 pp:10
accuracy:100 may frozen the foe

-Earthquake:power:100 pp:10
accuracy:100 very powerful attack but has no effect to flying Pokemons (but, why not use the Ice Beam move to flying foes?)

this moveset can be used to beat all elite fours at sapphire, emerald and ruby when swampert reaches level.100 (but use all of this move wisely if not, you'll fainted)

Just about anything at level 100 can beat the E4
Hahaha. Indeed.
but you know this is very useful to beat Elite fours without Fainting if you know the TIPS
Any Level 100 can beat the Elite 4 in any game. Besides, you have access to Potions and stuff so it is not much of a challenge. These movesets questions are asking for competative movesets where all Pokemon are the same level and Potion-like items are banned.

Swampert (M)@Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def / 4 SAtk
Brave Nature
- Stealth Rock/Roar
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Hammer Arm/Roar

Mainly for UU. This Swampert aims to stay in on threats that wall it, and destroy them with ease. Roar is a great asset to this Swampert, for if you don't need either of those Moves, replace it with Roar. Standard EVs from TankPert. Ice Beam over Waterfall to destroy those pesky Gligar and Grass Types easier. Snorlax and Porgon2's with Thunder Wave can get destroyed by Hammer Arm.
