Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Claydol?

2 votes

Mine is EV trained in Attack. It knows:

Toxic: Claydol has good defensive stats so Toxic is a must. Inflicts Toxic poison.

Earthquake: I'm not even going to give my reason for having this.

Stone Edge: Great move that also deals with Ice types. High powe and good chane for critical hit.

Zen Headbutt: Decent chance to cause flinching, good power, decent accuracy, STAB.

By the way, I'm skipping Castform. They have so many different moveset options. I have five Castforms, each with adifferent moveset.
Claydol @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 176 SAtk / 28 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Cosmic Power
- Toxic
- Psychic
- Earth Power

Baltoy isn't commonly used, most people over look him, so here's my set.

Baltoy w/ Evoilite
Bold Nature
44 HP, 212 Defense, 252 Special Defense.
Ability - Levitate

Stealth Rock
Power Split
Rest or Sandstorm

Baltoy is a fan favorite of mine.

Stealth Rock is your hazards, deals damage on switching in, ( I use this as a Lead ) and can do some major work going around.

Toxic is a pretty common move on Evoilite users, but it's how he does damage, both attacking stats are beyond pitiful.

Power Split will screw up anything that comes at you due to Baltoy's horrible attacking stats.

While Rest can give you some HP back and further stall Toxic, or Sandstorm can give you more damage slowly eating at your opponent.

So, Baltoy proves, " not commonly used " doesn't mean " not good ".

Shuckle does this really good as well.
Shuckle does this BETTER, Hoιγ Σiκe, less weaknesses, less attacks, better defenses (especially in a sandstorm)...
only problems- slower and half the HP as Baltoy, so pick your poison

I am good with psychic types mainly becuase they are mostly sweeper but I can do a tank.

WIth Claydol you want S.attack not attack

Calm mind(Boosts offense and S.def)

Ice beam/Shadow ball(Choose your coverage)

I suggest the leftovers as an item

Physical is an option though

Explosion(For when he is low on health......KABOOM!)

Cosmic power(Boosts both defenses)

I reccomend the leftovers for this one as well

Claydol @ Leftovers

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

IVs: 0 Spe

Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spe)

  • Trick Room
  • Rapid Spin
  • Earth Power
  • Ice Beam/Stealth Rock

Trick Room supports teammates with Trick Room and Claydol itself of course.
Rapid Spin clears away those pesky hazards, ugh!
Earth Power is nice STAB and hitting Pokemon like Steelix hard.
Ice Beam hits flying types for some nice damage, while Stealth Rocks can be used to support the team with that.

***You Must Add More Details.***
***Such As:***

 - Item
 - EV's
 - Nature
 - Trait (Ability)

***So Next Time Remember This.***

Not To Be Rude But This Should Be Hidden.
Actually all you need are moves for answering movesets but your not likely to get upvoted without a the things mentioned and maybe a description.
Items can be changed depending on the team(and with trick, it doesn't matter), some people just train, not EV train(I do this often), with a Sp. Attacker(which this is set), it's obviously modest, and, most importantly, IT ONLY HAS ONE ABILITY!!!!!!!!!!!(Levitate). I hope I have helped, Overload.

Nature: Brave (+Atk, -Spd)
Trait: Levitate
- Trick room
- Earthquake
- Zen headbutt
- Rock slide
Taking advantage of both STAB, Trick room will allow you with Zen headbutt and Rock slide combined with a Royal rock to scare your opponents pretty effectively.

My Claydol is basically an annoying and bulky spinner/wall

Claydol-Def 190, SpD 190, Hp 124
Nature: Careful
Ability: Levitate
Item: Brightpowder
Moves: Cosmic Power
Smack Down
Rapid Spin

Cosmic Power to add to your already great bulk.
Smack Down so nothing will resist your earthquake and to handle ice types.
Rapid Spin to get rid of entry hazards.
Earthquake is, well earthquake, and makes the Edge-Quake combo with Smack Down.

Setup Sweep Claydol:
Nature: Calm
EVS: 252 HP/252Def/4SpDef
Item:Weakness Policy
Calm Mind (boost the lower spdef and spatk)
Earth Power (STAB)
Shadow Ball (Coverage)
Grass Knot (Coverage)

Calm Mind allows you to boost your SpAtk and SpDef, and with your HP you should be able to survive one or two attacks without boosts. The survivability allows Claydol to make use of its many weaknesses with a Weakness Policy. Once Boosted by Calm Mind and Weakness Policy go ahead and start sweeping.

Replace Calm Mind with Rock Polish for speed instead of bulk. Go full HP and SPD if this is the case. Can also go Rest Talk if you are worrying about being swept by something faster, or you can just bring backup to counter anything that hits Claydol hard.
