Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

Haxorus or Dragonite for this team?

1 vote

Mainly my question is because I make it general rule of thumb to never run two of the same type on one team. however, due to both Skarmory and Dragonite carrying Roost, which loses their Flying Type for the turn, I figured it might be a moot point in this case. tell me what you think would help this team more:

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Impish Nature
Sturdy
255 def/255 HP/ 4 spd
Brave Bird
Whirlwind
Spikes
Roost

Gengar @ Sitrus Berry
Mild Nature
Levitate
255 spa/ 255 spe/ 4 HP
Shadow Ball
Pain Split
Focus Blast
Substitute

Blissey @ Leftovers
Calm Nature
Natural Cure
255 spd/ 255 HP/ 4 def
Seismic Toss
Toxic
Stealth Rock
Softboiled

Meinshao @ Life Orb
Naive Nature
Regenerator
255 atk/ 255 spe/ 4 HP
Hi Jump Kick
Grass Knot
U-Turn
Fake Out

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Adamant Nature
Pressure
255 atk/ 255 spe/ 4 spd
Ice Punch
Pursuit
Low Kick
Ice Shard

then its between

Dragonite @ Yache Berry
Adamant Nature
Multiscale
255 atk/ 255 HP/ 4 spe
Dragon Claw
ExtremeSpeed
Five Punch
Roost

or

Haxorus @ Expert Belt
Adamant Nature
Mold Breaker
255 atk/ 255 spe/ 4 spd
Dual Chop
Brick Break
Earthquake
Swords Dance

so the big question is the longevity of Multiscale Roost Dragonite, or the raw power of Swords Dance Mold Breaker Haxorus??

Looking at your team I say dragonite, but not a physical one. All of your pokes but gengar are physical. After gengar is koed than the team can be easily walled out.

Use this dragonair, huge evolite abuser capable of dishing out hits. Credit to speedfreak for set.

Item: Evolite
Ability: Shed-skin
Nature: Bold
Evs: 252 Defense, 252 S.Defense, 6 S.Attack

Rest
Flamethrower
Toxic
Dragon-pulse

Rest is 1 turn thanks to shed-skin so it is reliable healing. Flamethrower covers Steels. Toxic is for stalling. Dragon-pulse is for covering the one weakness and STAB.

I do realize that Gengar is my only Specialist, but most special walls I've dealt with can be handle by Grass Knot which is a special, or Blisseys Seismic Toss. the main reason i threw Toss on Blissey was to Avoid Curse Sweeping Umbreons. Between Toxic, entry damage, and S Toss, Moonlight is quickly overrun by Toxic Damage. The only things I've ever run into that are truly problematic are Gengar, since its Poison typing nulls Toxic, Ghost nulls Seismic Toss, and Levitate Stops Skarmorys Spikes that's where Weavile is handy, Pursuit either KOs if Gengar switches, or hurts it bad, and Ice Shard finishes the job. Focus Sash guarantees a hit + ice Shard for the ko. i could always replace Dragonite Fire Punch with a Spec move, but Adamant Nature makes most Spec moves next to useless anyway.
but what about physical wall? your stradegy will work on pen and paper but not on the field, iv tested a similar sradegy
Ok i see what you're saying. i have a Jolteon or an Alakazam i could swap Mienshao for. but these both have next to no survivability either.
alakazam, use it
And i appreciate the help.

k so i swapped out Mienshao for:

Alakazam @ Life Orb
Mild Nature
Magic Guard
252 spa/ 252 spe/ 4 def
Psyshock
Charge Beam
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast

i feel that Weavile and Dragonite are good physical sets, Gengar and Alakazam are good special sets, and Skarmory has good offensive potential for a physical wall plus Phazing, while Blissey has Toxic, which for a Special wall is standard issue. plus her Seismic Toss pretty much covers walls cuz it always does 100 damage.
now use yur dragonite set because you have special alakazam
