To evolve a boldore, do you have to trade boy for boy?

I traded boldore for boldore, but mine evolved but my brothers did not!
We traded boy for girl( I got the boy.)

No. You do not.
The Boldore that didn't evolve must be holding the Everstone.

It did not evolve because when you catch it it has a big change of holding an everstone

Usually boldors are caught with a everstone
