Question

As in the other question, I'd like to hear what everyone else wants on the Pokebase, the community area.

By asking here, everyone can upvote each item so I know which are most popular. (That doesn't mean I will definitely do all the top suggestions, but it is more likely.) You can suggest anything that's been suggested before or anything new you think of. Rules:

• One suggestion per answer only. This way we can vote on individual features. If you have several suggestions, post multiple answers.
• This is for Pokebase only (including meta/RMT/chat) not the main site. There is a separate question for PokemonDb. Note: you can suggest other community-related features here.
• Vote up your favourite suggestions but please don't down-vote. If you don't like a suggestion just leave it alone.
• Don't suggest a general discussion forum, as I am going to do that at some point.

I will keep this open for a week or so and start work next weekend.

To repeat: this is for Pokebase and the other member areas, not the main site.

# 5, not sure if this violates the rules, but a Private Messaging system would be awesome. Say that Mew is on the Pokebase and not on chat, we can just PM him to come on, instead of commenting on one of his answers.

The new version of the Q2A software will allow (public) comments on user pages. There is a PM system already but it doesn't work very well, hopefully that will get improved too.

Something in chat to indicate that another person is currently typing in chat would be sweet. Like, a little pen icon next to the person's username in the user box.

#3, the Expert limit to earn it should be changed based on how long you were contributing to the site, not based on reaching 6.000 points. That was a major flaw I was seeing.

I agree with Mew. People like Da (forgot new name :( ) became expert on the Pokebase by spamming good answers. Nothing more. He never made any activity anywhere else until he hit that 6000. He's a brilliant expert now but once again another user has hit expert by answering a lot of questions on Pokebase.

I would say no to this. If we're going to change the system, let's make it so that we don't give sassmang or whoever the last placed user is any power.

If we're going to change it, I'd say 3 or 4 moderators have to vote for a user to become an expert. Three might be better for the current activity of moderators but four would make sure only the most qualified are in. After all, I would think it very difficult to get DT's vote (based off him saying multiple times that if everybody has power, nobody has power) or my vote (because I think we have enough moderators and would say no on every user besides Rio, who is awesome).
Of course, Pokemaster could also make people Experts. :P

As to whether our current experts would remain experts, that I would like to know what Pokemaster would think if he adopts this system.

It's to keep people from complaining about that specific person hiding a post. It's been a pretty annoying issue, especially when people get really petty about it and do things like vote that person's posts down.

Add a question in the RMT or PokeBase for good battles fom PO/PS.
Example Question: Post your BEST battle videos from PS and PO!

This will help new battlers become more experienced and help people
prepare in advance for upcoming battles against rivals on the DB.

For Example: Absol and I in Mono-Dark.

Give Experts and Editors the power to kick. I think the deserve the power as well. Make them get timed kicks though, and give Mods a separate kick power where they can time their kicks. #2 in my list.

Also it could be done so that Experts can not kick Editors, and Editors can not kick mods.

For gaining:

So, on the Admin page, whenever a user gets a certain amount of points, they get put on notice for a privilege. Those points would be like this, likely:

The Mods can approve or reject the ability.

The mods go here.

On the highlighted area, there is a link that says "Remove" and when clicked, it removes the privilege. Also an "Undo" button.

A follow up from this, add "Chatting" as a privilege. No matter what points you have, you have it. Unless the Mods take it away, then you cannot enter chat.
