Alright, so you want to change your name, but you're not sure how. Well, the place to get that done is right here at The PokemonDB Name Rater!. Before you answer however, there is a general code of conduct. There are rules on the Name Rater already written but no one seems to mind half of them, so I figured a re-state would be helpful.
Could you change my name from SBR to RedShift.?

The answer shown above is the answer that I have most recently posted, and I'm going to use it as an example. When I posted it, I listed the name I had at the time, so people would know who RedShift. was after the change, and of course I listed the new name I'd like to have so that Pokemaster would know what to change it to. One peice of unspoken etiquette is saying please and thank you in the answer. It makes it seem more diplomatic, as opposed to "Hi pokemast I want you to change my name from RedShift. to BenShift.". I haven't seen too many answers like that but either way, it looks good to say please and thank you in the answer. Also, when listing your current name and new name you'd like to have, bold them. Bolding can be done by putting 2 asteriks (*) before and after the text you'd like to bold.

This help Pokemaster see clearly what you'd like him to do. Another thing that needs covered is the 3 month rule. I know how hard it can be to wait to change your name if you think of a really good one, but it's a rule just like any of the others. It's one thing if you know you are very close (Within a few days) of having had your name for 3 months and not knowing exactly when you can answer again, but answering 2 months early and knowing very well you are early is unnaccceptable and will probably be denied. Something I recommend is that you put the date of your last name change into your profile, to help you remember. One thing I've noticed is that this rules is being broken by a lot of higher ranking/influential users, and that needs to stop, as it sets a bad example for everyone else. 3 months isn't a huge wait, and it gives you reason to think about how much you'll like your name in another 2 months, when you can't change it.
One last thing I'd like to adress is vote/poll posts. Vote/Poll posts are great, but are only meant for situations where you have 2 or 3 names that you really like and just can't decide for the life of you. Those are perfectly fine, but when you list like 10 names, all of them just off the top of your head, that's overkill and shouldn't really be done. It isn't hard to narrow 10 names down to 3 or 4, where you can further narrow it down by asking other users on chat. Then, when you have 2 or 3 left and still can't make up your mind, is when you make a poll answer.
I tried to keep it short and easy to read, and I hope it helps!
