Wanted to try something different.
@ Heat Rock
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sunny Day
- Psychic
- Encore
- Healing Wish
Gardevoir is probably one of the best support pokemon in the tier. She has such a wide movepool that she fits on almost any team, and this one is no exception. I tend to play her more suicidally than Regirock - she might only get Sun up once per game, but the many setup opportunities she can provide with Encore and Healing Wish are invaluable. Psychic is my choice of STAB, mainly because it hits Gurdurr very hard which can set up on a large portion of my team. Encore lets me lock a foe into a non-threatening move and go out safely into the appropriate check, while Healing Wish can revitalise a weakened team member at the cost of my own life.
@ Heat Rock
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Sunny Day
- Thunder Wave
- Rock Slide
My defensive pivot, and my only check to rampaging Flying types like Braviary and Swellow. Although that plan kind of fails when CB Braviary does ~60% to me with Superpower ( no counters gdi ) but he's okay I guess. I went for a more defensive spread since i'll often be switching him in, setting up sun, and switching out again so the extra special bulk helps a lot. Thunder Wave cripples offensive pokemon that like to come into him, especially RD Ludicolo. Rock Slide is my choice of STAB for reliability, but let's be honest I won't get much of a chance to use it with all this other stuff to set up.
@ Choice Scarf
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Wild Charge
- Head Smash
My main sweeper this thing is soo good :3 top wallbreaker in NU so it's a surprise when it outpaces you and smacks you with a STAB sun-boosted Flare Blitz. Scarf really helps since he's rather slow and I don't mind being locked into a move when 99% of the time I'll just be clicking Flare Blitz anyway. Superpower hits Rock types harder & nails Thick Fat Miltank among other special walls. Wild Charge and Head Smash are obvious choices for coverage but like I said I'll mainly be spamming Flare Blitz so they're just filler tbh.
@ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Giga Drain
- Volt Switch
Remember when I said Regirock checks Braviary? Well unfortunately he just gets set up all over by the SubBU set which is becoming more common since people realised how good it is. So this is what I send in when I find out my opponent's running that, he comfortably tanks +1 Brave Bird and KOs with STAB Thunderbolt ( probably, anyway it will leave it weakened enough for another of my pokes to revenge it. ) Leftovers are nice just for the added longevity. His Flamethrower gets a boost from Sun, and Thunderbolt deals with general annoyances to Emboar - a certain fat pink fish comes to mind in fact. Giga Drain is nice coverage along with his other moves, and Volt Switch allows a slow pivot into one of my frailer sweepers. This guy's awesome typing and ability mean it's my main switchin to Ground type moves from the likes of Golurk.
@ Life Orb
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sunny Day
- SolarBeam
- Weather Ball
- Sludge Bomb
I based this set off the very common and very threatening Rain Dance Ludicolo that people on Showdown like to spam apparently. Anyway Victreebel may not have a STAB Hydro Pump to abuse in rain, but it does have a one turn Solarbeam and sun-boosted Weather Ball which is good enough for me. Victreebel's frail defenses and poor defensive typing make it hard to set up ( which is actually why I'm considering Memento > Healing Wish on Gardevoir ) but when it does, it can clean sweep. Sludge Bomb is nice STAB to have against Fire types which wall my other moves but I still wish this thing got Earthquake.
@ Life Orb
Trait: Super Luck
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Night Slash
- Superpower
- Sucker Punch
Because I hate Musharna. Honestly if I see one of them I have to keep both Gardevoir and Absol alive, when it starts setting up Calm Minds on Regirock or a Choice-locked Emboar I send out Gardy quickly and Encore it. I then go to Absol to hopefully OHKO it with a Swords Dance boosted Night Slash. If one of these guys is dead or my strategy fails for some reason, it's pretty much GG. Anyway we all know how powerful Absol is in NU, he can be a back up sweeper in case my sun antics screw up, and can decimate teams at +2. Sucker Punch for priority Superpower coverage asdfsdg you know what he does ;)
