Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Seaking?

Mine has the ability Swift Swim. It knows:

Waterfall: Good power, high accuracy, STAB, power increased by Rain Dance, decent chance to cause flinching.
Megahorn: High power, deals with Grass types.
Rain Dance: Powers up Waterfall and increases Speed with Swift Swim.
Body Slam: Good power, high accuracy, good chance to cause paralysis which can lead to a minorly effective para-flinch.

This set covers Seaking's weaknesses, makes him into a respectable sweeper and is one of the best sets he can get. You could run poison jab if you wanted, it's a bit more reliable than Megahorn, but not as much coverage.

Double/Triple Battle

Seaking (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Blizzard
- Surf
- Signal Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Have a teammate with Discharge in order for this to work. It will boost your Special Attack thanks to Lightningrod (which also protects your team). Blizzard hits multiple foes. Surf does too, but it also gets STAB. Signal Beam and HP Electric are coverage.

Great, Waterfall better than Surf since Seaking good at attack stat! but, I don't know about body slam... I will change it with Ice Beam! but, it's your pokemon, isn't it? so, choose wisely...

Gen V

Seaking (M) @ Life Orb

Trait: Swift Swim

EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 28 SDef / 196 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Waterfall
  • Megahorn
  • Knock Off
  • Body Slam

Yeah, it gets Lightningrod. So what? Your Special Attack stat is bad, and you'll still have a bad speed stat. At least you have some sweeping capabilities with Swift Swim. Waterfall provides STAB, and can do nice damage in the Rain. Megahorn has high base power. Body Slam is there because since there is no Instant Rain in NU, it's going to run out, so you'll have to use paralysis to outspeed the foe. Knock Off is just to annoy the foe. Your EVs max out your Attack and give you enough Speed for use with Swift Swim and Body Slam. Life Orb is needed though to do much damage. The EVs also give a tiny bit of bulk to use.

Seaking (M) @ Life Orb

Role: Special Sweeper

Trait: Lightningrod

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Agility
  • Hydro Pump
  • Ice Beam
  • Signal Beam

Whoa there, I caught a big one!

This guy relies on prediction, you switch in on a predictable Electric type move ( Lets just hope it isn't volt Switch ) so now your opponent gets mad, and switches.

Use Agility on that turn.

Now you have a very useable Special Sweeper, with Hydro Pump ( You really need that extra power here due to him still not having the best Sp Atk even with Lightning Rod. )

And Ice beam and Signal Beam for awesome coverage!
