Mine knows:

Payback: STAB, works well with Curse, high accuracy.
Curse: Increases Attack and Defense, also lowers Speed, making this really useful with Payback.
Toxic: Inflicts bad poison.
Wish: More reliable way of healing than Moonlight.

So, my Umbreon can only learn curse by breeding? If I have a level 50 Umbreon that doesn't knows curse, I'm done?

My favorite dark type. For a wall, you can use:

Toxic-Walls need this move
Mean look-Traps foe
Payback-Works well with low speed
Protect/curse/wish-protect for further stalling, curse to power payback, or wish to heal Umbreon

or you can make him a passer

Baton pass-passes to partners
wish-is baton passable, and because of umbreon's low speed, they switch in without getting hit
Toxic-poisons, duh
Mean look /Curse/double team -mean look is baton passable, curse if you are willing to give up speed.

I like to use the 1st or the 3rd one.

Trump card/Faint attack/Payback-Trump card has incredible amounts of damage after cursing. faint attack has okay power, and has infinite accuracy. there's also the move payback, but I suggested the others because confusion may keep your opponent from hitting you, meaning you don't get double power.

Nice moveset analysis, Hex, never thought Umbreon could be an offensive Special Attacker.  Usually, a lot of times, people usually have Umbreon a typical bulky Dark-Type such as Impish, Bold, Calm, or even Careful natures, but Modest works too.  Hmm, wonder how an Adamant Umbreon would have its movesets?

Switch force Umbreon

Toxic/wish/moonlight-Toxic wears away at health, wish restores health, as does moonlight (which works wonders on sun teams)

Confuse Ray-confuses foe. Helps force switches.

Taunt-Forces foe to attack. Works nicely with confuse ray and payback

Normally Snatch isn't all that great, but this set makes good use of it, working with the fact that most people don't like Umbreon because it's very easy to set up on. Curse is there to pad up his defense and attack, while payback is his attacking move. His HP is much higher than the typical Umbreon, so this helps with wish when he wants to help out a teammate. Most people try to set up stat boosters or substitute on Umbreon and try to go for a clean kill, but snatch is there to mess all that up. If it manages to steal a substitute, more than likely, Umbreon is pretty healthy, because they would have finished you off if you were weak. Snatch can let it take substitutes for itself while still being able to set up uninterrupted. If you want, you could replace Curse with Baton pass to help teammates even more, and payback into heal bell if you weren't afraid of being taunted. He can steal Whirlwinds and roars to preventing pseudo phasing, and since he's not interrupted with cursing, even some fighting types have trouble getting through him without a lucky critical hit.

Umbreon should have Synchronize because if you get frozen your opponent could get frozen too, which means that u both can't do any damage to each other ( unless the Pokemon switches out).
Also if u use Curse then Baton Pass it to a Dusknoir or something it will have some serious bulk.

so umbreon has great walling abilitys (great hp great def and extremely good spdef) but IMO
putting to many evs into spdef is a waste because most spmoves are usually psychic (no effect) and water and ghost which will both do 1/2 damge due to resistant and sun
this set is good when i use it online though it does have 2 problems taunt (not that common) and fighting

Similar to my other set just with more style.
Sucker punch may seem a weird idea but payback is less reliable in my opinion.
Payback meens your going to want to go last but when your about to die to lets say alakazams focus blast you do want priority so thats why sucker punch is there.
Also for the reason that if your going to die you may as well do a bit more before they atk.

The rest is rather self explanitry i love using confuse ray its much better than swagger plus it adds to the stalling effect.
If they are confused they are likely poisoned as well which goes well with protect.

A favourite of mine.

Gen. IV

Trait: Synchronize
Careful Nature: (-Sp.Atk)(+Sp.Def)
EVs: 252 Def / 252 Sp.Def / 4 Atk

Payback - STAB, Accurate, Works with the fact that there's no EV investment in Spd.
Confuse Ray - Causes foe to damage themselves, prevents Umbreon from being hit.
Double Team - Reduces the chance that Umbreon will be hit. Even if he is hit he can shrug off even most super effective hits when at full HP.
Spite - PP reduction.

The combination of Confuse Ray and Double Team keep Umbreon pretty well protected. If a worrying move gets used, just reduce the PP using Spite so that it doesn't get used again. Payback can actually be quite powerful, most people expect to be battling a tank rather than an offensive Pokemon when they see Umbreon, and can cause the foe to to switch after taking a couple of powered up Paybacks as a result of low Spd. Synchronize ensures that paralysis is passed on to foes, which can be extremely annoying in combination with confusion or hightened evasiveness, or that poison at least has an upside. For items I find Sitrus Berry, Leftovers or BrightPowder to work the best, although Lum berry could be good to avoid sleep/poison which tend to mean KO for this set.

Not sure if this is a great moveset, but this is what I use and it seems to work pretty well for me.

Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)

• Toxic (obvious reasons)
• Substitute (gives it some extra protection)
• Moonlight (recover from substitute)
• Payback (STAB, works well with sassy nature)

Sassy nature probably isn't the best but it's what my Umbreon has so I decided to make the best of it by using Payback. I thought about using something like Double Team or Amnesia instead of Payback and just let Toxic do all the work, but I'm just too scared of the MeanLook + Taunt combo and also it would be forced to switch out against poison types and loose any stat buffs it has anyway.

i'm about to get umbreon! i'm so exicited!!! he will make a great addition to my team so I plan on giving him this moveset

• baton pass(great when in a pinch and great for passing stats)
• work up(rasing attack and special attack it can pass them to any one which means I could pass stats to an aggron so if you teach him surf or thunderbolt it gives him an extra boost!)
• psychic(protect against fighting)
• dark pulse(STAB and can flinch giving him a bit of stalling)

I think this is a good mix of every thing down below so I kind of get the best of both worlds.

assurance- good STAB for this moveset
screech- helps boost assurance's power

this moveset is easy to get since I think egg moves can be somewhat of an annoyance to get, is effective and is just annoying if used correctly

substitute-Gives time to stall and heal
Foul Play- lets you use your enemy's attack instead of yours
Moonlight-good heal
Toxic-good stall
Nature-Sassy (i just worked with it (reason there is no payback) yeah)
Item-Life orb (Makes foul play more acceptable to things not weak to dark also if you opponet has bad attack it will make it better)
