What is a good moveset for Tangrowth?

Yep, I missed another one. Mine is EV trained in Attack, Speed, and HP. It has the ability Chlorophyll. It knows:

Power Whip: High power, STAB, decent PP.

Earthquake: Obviously.

Sleep Powder: Puts the foe to Sleep.

Knock Off: Knocks off the foe's item.

5th Gen tier: OU
Huh? What? This guy is NU.
Not to smogon
Tangela (M) @ Evolution Stone
Trait: Regeneration
EVs: 120 HP / 136 SAtk / 252 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Leech Seed
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Rock]
the foes item isn't usually worth the trouble. I'd replace knock off

Since Yours Is EV Trained In Attack, I Will Give A Physical Moveset. If You Would Also Like The Special Moveset, Comment Below, and Ill Edit it.

Physical: Item: Quick Claw:
Moveset:
Rock Slide: It Covers So Many Weaknesses, that Just Like Sceptile, It Is Worth It.
Power Whip/Seed Bomb: STAB, Decent Coverage.
Sleep Powder Isnt Exactly Accurate, But If You Want To Keep It Go Ahead. If Not, I Would Suggest Earthquake To Cover Its Final Weakness.
Finally: Leech Seed: For Healing, Or Brick Break or Poison Jab For More Coverage.

Special Moveset:
Mine As Well Make Use Of That Chloyaphyl, or Leaf Guard.
Sunny Day: Ability, Solarbeam, Etc.
Solarbeam: STAB Strong Acc. and Power
Ancientpower: Covers 4 Weaknesses
Synthesis: Heals Alot Of HP In The Sun:)
Preferably Holding A Heat Rock.

Sure, give a Special moveset so that people with a special Tangrowth will have a moveset. And I think I'll do Poison Jab instead of Knock Off.

Gen V

Tangrowth (M) @ Life Orb

Trait: Chlorophyll

EVs: 128 Def / 128 SAtk / 252 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Giga Drain
  • Stun Spore
  • Hidden Power [Fire]
  • Focus Blast

Sun sweeper
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 S.Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Hp

Growth
Solar-beam/Giga-drain
Hidden-power(Fire)
Focus-blast/Ancient-power

Growth boosts S.Attack (and attack but that is not important here) by 2 stages in the sun. Solar-beam is powerful STAB while Giga-drain is healing STAB. Hidden-power(Fire) is coverage and is boosted by the sun. Focus-blast is coverage while Ancient-power is for some fun coverage that can boost all stats for some fun.

Note: You can make this set a Physical one too if you just go Jolly and swap the S.attack EVs for Attack, then teach it Seed-bomb, E-quake, and Rock-slide/Brick-break. Also this set requires Sun-support.

I would have

Earthquake-Decent power accuracy and PP

Synthesis-Leech seed or giga drain arn't necessary if you can heal this way

Rock Slide-Coverage

Power Whip-Reasonably accurate and really powerful

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator/Leaf-guard
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 Defense, 180 Hp, 78 S.Defense

Amnesia
Leech-seed
Sleep-powder/Toxic
Giga-drain

Amnesia is for boosting that terrible S.Defense. Leech-seed is for stalling and healing. Sleep-powder gives you more time to heal/boost, while Toxic is for more stalling. Giga-drain is STAB and healing.

Tangela (M/F) @ Eviolite

Trait: Regenerator
EV's 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD
Nature: Bold (-Att, +Def.)
-Sleep Powder
-Leech Seed
-Substitute
-Giga Drain

Okay here we go, Eviolite is to boost Tangela's decent defenses even higher, the EV's are for bulk, Bold is to make Tangela a Physical Wall. Sleep Powder is to put the opponent to sleep. Leech Seed is to drain the foe's HP away. Substitute makes this a SubSeed set and with Regenerater you can set up Substitutes as long as you want. Giga Drain is to heal and it's STAB.

This thing is one of the most beastly walls in RU, possessing more physical bulk than Skarmory, access to Leech Seed and Sleep Powder, the highly covered ability Regenerator, along with a good STAB in Power Whip and a decent Atk stat to use it.

Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Bold Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Insane bulk, the ability to SleepSeed, a great STAB, and HP Fire to take down Ferroseeds and grass type and bug type switch ins. What more does he need?
