Resetting for a shiny?

I'm trying to get a shiny Volcarona, I did lots of soft resests but I took the game out, so will they still count? and also can it still be shiny if you do a hard reset?

Any resetting will regenerate the wild Pokemon encounter, meaning it has a new chance of being shiny. There's no difference between types of resetting (unless it's resetting while shiny chaining in DPPt, in which case I believe there is but I'm not 100% sure).

Soft resetting is just easier since it takes a shorter amount of time to do than switching your DS off and on again.
