How do you reset pokewalker data?

I didn't deposit my lugia into the p.c and now I cant use the pokewalker anymore,what happened?!

I believe if you press down+X+L where it says "Go for a stroll..." it'll reset everything so whatever Pokemon you had will come back into your PC. Though you won't get any of the Watts that were currently on your Pokewalker.
