Can you do this in Double Battles with Meowstics?

Question

Could you actually use two Meowstics in battle if they are of opposite genders? Male is defensively trained and the female is offensively trained. Think about it. One is more defensive and vice versa.

I just tested this in Showdown (had a Meowstic-f and a Meowstic-m in a team) and it wont let me enter the battle, so

EDIT: it will how ever work in-game, since the species clause is only in competitive battles.

Nope. The female and male meowstics are still one Pokemon, so you can't use them due to the species clause. But ingame, yes, it will work, since there are no clauses or anything you have to worry about. Hope I helped!
