How do you get on and actually explore the SS Tidal in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire?

I was just wondering since each time I go to Slateport City and I show the lady my ticket to ride the boat, the screen goes black for a moment and then I arrive at the Battle Resort. Do I need to do something else first? Please help me! Thanks! :)

Yes I clear the game once and completed the Delta Episode.

I believe you can explore the S.S. Tidal only through going from Lilycove city to Slateport. If not, Battle Resort to Lilycove
