Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for a Blissey?

2 votes

I am using it as an annoyer, that is a pokemon that uses moves that are annoying and end up killing the opponent slowly and efficiently. She knows softboiled, toxic, psychic, and counter. I chose softboiled becuase there is nothing more annoying than a healing pokemon. I chose toxic because being poisoned is a pain the neck. I chose psychic to defend against fighting types. And I chose counter because of blisseys low defense paired with its high HP.

Chansey (F) @ Evolution Stone
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SDef / 8 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 248 SDef / 8 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
- Heal Bell
Trachy, that's the exact same set.
One is Blissey, while the other is Chansey with Eviolite.
The "set of factory made, auto-rebuilding walls"

Blissey @ leftovers
Trait: natural cure
EVs: 252 hp / 252 sDef / 4 Def
Bold / Impish nature (+def -atk/sAtk)
- sofboiled (because simply a set of machine fabricated walls would not be enough)
- double team (**** yeah)
- Protect (**** yeah)
- seismic toss (a good 100 dmg)
what is evlotion stone is it evolvite?

beacuase everstone is bad becuase you just waste a couple seconds

Here's a moveset for a Blissey in the role of stalling! ~

Blissey # Leftovers

  • Bold Nature (^Def -Atk)

  • 252 Def EVs / 200 HP EVs / 58 Sp. Def EVs

    • Toxic (Of course! For the actual stall ~)
    • Softboiled (Whats a Blissey without Softboiled?)
    • Protect (The greatest stalling move ever! This can also stall one turn for lefties to heal you!)
    • Flamethrower (For pesky Steel types that won't take the Toxic!)
answered May 27, 2011 by Sam Sam Sam Sam
1 attack move? Bit risky.
It is risky, but this set is not for attacking at all.
You could always replace Protect with Seismic Toss or something; I use this set to stall.
OK, i realise this might be a bit late to say, but, what about poison types or Heatran? (Flash Fire)
or a radom Crobat or gengar with mean look? wait to die?
Wait to die? Why not switch out?
I said, gengar/crobat w/ mean look...-.-

Geez, you people have very selfish Blissey's here's mine:

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 200 HP / 176 SAtk / 132 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Wish
- Heal Bell

Basically, this is a Cleric Bliss, which got an upgrade going into Gen V. Wish in Gen V now heals 50% of the user's HP, even when switching to another Pokemon, on this Blissey, that is 350 HP; enough to fully heal just about anything on an average team. So the idea for this Bliss is to switch into a Spec attacker, and Wish on the likely switch. Heal Bell is one of my favourite moves, especially with the influx of Toxic users, Will-o-Wisp, and Thunder Wave ferro. The Bolt-Beam combo works well for Blissey, as allot of Special attackers are Water, Dragon, or Grass types, and it hits a few more that aren't.
EVs give it 701 HP (enough to take 8 Seismic Tosses, and heal 350 HP), 230 SpAtk, and 372 SpDef. Natural Cure is the best ability on Bliss, if someone tries to use Toxic, or put Blissey to sleep, just switch in a new Pokemon, problem solved, and Bliss is good to go again.

Here is a Chansey variation of the same set:

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 240 HP / 248 Def / 16 SDef / 4 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Heal Bell
- Wish
Possibly a better set, it has the same Cleric base, same HP, but a higher defenses and a more stall-like approach to offense. Seismic Toss will always do 100 damage (at level 100), and Toxic will kill the opponent slowly, or force a switch for you to Wish.
The eviolite give Chansey 375 SpDef, and 217 Def (Blissey's is 56, 130 Max), and it still has 701 HP, it can take hits all day, and is actually better than Blissey in most cases. I throw 4 speed on the EVs mainly as filler, but also so it won't speed tie with other Chansey's, this thing is popular.

Chansey has so good defense at 252 HP 252 Def Bold it's annoying.
WHY HAS NOBODY POSTED THIS

this works really well if you're battling someone you know.

blissey (f/m(depends on if you expect more f or m on opposing team))
leftovers
bold nature
natural cure

-attract
-double team
-softboiled
-toxic

start with attract. toxic and start double teaming. if you still take a hit softboil. repeat. sometimes when i battle friends i take a male AND a female just to sure i can troll his entire team.
Evasion moves are banned, attract is pretty much useless, and Taunt.
This page is for more competitive movesets.

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers

Role: Sweeping Tank

Trait: Serene Grace

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

  • Aromatherapy
  • Charge Beam
  • Ice Beam
  • Softboiled

Sweepish Bliss, It's fairly Uncommon.

Aromatherapy makes you decently tolerant to Poison and Burns and Para-hax, due to it only taking a turn. Charge Beam is amazing with Serene Grave, Charging up Blissey's Sp Atk to be total Boss hood. Ice Beam provides the Bolt Beam Coverage, and Softboiled for that quick healing.

Nobody put a PURE offensive Blissey. I'll put mine.

Blissey

Blissey @ Choice Specs
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SAtk/ 252 Spd/ 4 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk,-Atk)

  • Hyper Voice
  • Psychic
  • Charge Beam
  • Ice Beam

Choice Specs brings his Special Attack to reasonable levels. Hyper Voice is STAB and has decent power. Psychic is coverage against Fighting types. Charge Beam + Serene Grace raises his Special Attack almost all the time while Ice Beam and Charge Beam together form the BoltBeam combo.

Charge beam ALWAYS boosts with serene grace. Honestly I do not see how specs helps you here.
Well.... It gives more Special Attack? :P
wouden't Expert belt be better?

I have two Blisseys:

Nickname: "Debi"
-Aromatherapy
-Softboiled
-Toxic
-Fire Blast
*This is a more supportive set and the first Blissey I ever actually raised (originally on my Pearl version, now on Platinum, planning to transfer it further to Black/White): Aromatherapy rids the team of ailments, Toxic provides slow but sure damage, and Fire Blast melts Steel-types which can't be poisoned.

Nickname: "Molly"
-Counter
-Softboiled
-Toxic
-Fire Blast

*The set is virtually the same, except in place of Aromatherapy this one has Counter. The point here is to turn Blissey's low Defense into an asset with Counter (put a LOT of Defense EVs into this one for maximum effeciency).

With that low attack, Drain Punch won't do anything.
It can't learn 5 moves
fixed it
Swagger is a very bad idea, and the big root is useless here, why not Soft-boiled and Leftovers.
How is swagger that bad of an idea?
It's not like Blissey can survive a physical opponent anyhow.

Blissey@Leftovers
Ability:Natural cure
EVS:252HP/252Def/4SpDef
Nature:Calm(By having a +Spdef nature,it will have high enough SpDef so you wont have to be training that stat too much, 4 evs is enough)
-Seismic toss(Used for damaging opponent)
-Rest(Since she is likely to move last, use rest after she took a hit and switch her in the party rigth after and natural cure heals her status problem which is sleep)
-Aromatherapy(Support your team)
-Light screen(Support your team)

answered Feb 23, 2012 by HellDoom
I like this set. I will take it into consideration, though you should use Reflect instead of Aromatherapy for Dual-Screening purposes.

Here's an amazing competitive Blissey. It's worked so far for me. I've updated this moveset!

Blissey

Blissey @ Focus Sash
Trait: Natural Cure
Hasty Nature
EVs: 252 Sp. Def / 252 Spd
Toxic
Soft-Boiled
Counter
HP Ground

So this Blissey has a dual function: it can either be a staller or a (possibly suicidal) killer. Let me explain my strategy:
If the opponent is a physical attacker, they probably know that they can easily KO a Blissey, so I use Counter. With the highest HP in the game and extremely low Defense, the physical move will probably knock Blissey down to 1 HP (thanks to the Focus Sash), which then will guarantee being able to KO the other Pokémon with Counter.
If the opponent is a special attacker, I go with a staller set. I first toxic and then Soft-Boiled all the damage away.
HP Ground is for Poisons and Steels that can't be poisoned, and for Taunt.

So there's my Blissey. If you like it or have anything to say regarding it, feel free to leave a vote/comment. Thanks to anyone who takes time to read this! :)

Watch out for skarmory D:
This also won't work against special poison types...
Alakazam Aggron Mega Absol Espeon Umbreon Gengar Venusaur
And this is the most common set in PS
Be careful of Thundurus-I since it is a prankster user so it makes it a viable taunt ab00ser
Almost any taunter will outspeed it lolz

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef

- Charge Beam
- Fire Blast
- Softboiled
- Psychic

I just have to ask, why fire blast!?!
I agree, why Fire Blast?  Flamethrower has waay more accuracy and PP.
Fire blast is more powerful

Blissey (F) @Wide Lens/X accuracy
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Timid Nature (+Speed, -Atk)
-Sing
-Dream Eater
-Icy Wind
-Soft Boild/ Focus Blast

This strategy focuses on blissey's ability Serene Grace which doubles secondary effects chance of happening since http://www.serebii.net/attackdex-dp/sing.shtml says that sings sleep inducing effect is a secondary effect then it would get better accuracy,Icy wind surely lowers foes speed which means you go faster than them after a while.Dream Eater also recovers hp.so softboild can be replaced by focus blast for those dark types who are imune to dream eater.plus there will be a 20% of foe lowering sp defense. For the items, wide lense gives better accuracy for focus blast and sing af course,so does x accuracy since you dont need to switch from battle, left over(i dont think you need it so much, since you still recover hp by moves) hope this helps.

i know this is old but first serene grace doesnt boost accuracy and x accuracy may only be used by a trainer and finally icy wind always lowers speed

Blissey: This pokemon has the highest amount of HP out of all the pokemon there is...and guess what CHANSEY has the next highest. Blissey has great HP and Special Defense. Here is a moveset that should let you stay in for a long time.

Blissey

Ability: Serene Grace
EV's: 252 Defense/ 252 S.D./ 4 HP
Item: Leftovers or Chople Berry

  1. Protect: This is to prevent physical fighting type moves from hitting and doing major damage because Blissey has one of the worst Defenses in the game.
  2. Toxic: This is to get the opponent to lose HP more and more every turn. Just doesn't effect Steel or Poison types.
  3. SOFTBOIL:-) This restores half of your max HP, and with Blissey have a lot of it, it will restore a lot of HP.
  4. Flamethrower: This is for those Steel and Poison type pokemon. I would have gone with Psychic but I figured Flamethrower would be better with the added effect of making the opponent burn. (Burned pokemon also have a lot lower attack power. Great for pokemon that focus on physical attacks and not special attacks.)

Here's mine,
Blissey (M) @ leftovers
(I don't do EVs/nature)
Ability: Serene Grace
Softboiled- quick healing
Egg bomb- STAB
Toxic- (you know why)
Flamethrower- coverage

answered Jun 3, 2012 by Old timer
I like the way you think! Though I think I'm starting to understand evs more. They get handy in the Battle Subway! But why are you using a special and physical move in the same set? If you really want two attacking moves, replace egg bomb with Hyper Beam for another STAB, and you aren't risking much with losing a turn, for Blissey is a wall and it has Leftovers.
Thanks for the advice, I haven't been on lately so I know this is late.

Epic annoyer and Crippler

MAH GAURDIAN ANGEL (Blissey) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
- Attract
- Water Pulse/Seismic toss

Thunder wave just does the job. Wish is healing. Attract is just boss. Then I would preffer Water Pulse for confusion on top of T-wave and attract but go for seismic toss if you want. Serence Grace is a option but I'm using natrual cure for toxic stallers.Do 4 Sp.Def EV's for seismic toss.

Have fun :D

answered Jul 30, 2012 by Tysonyoshi
You should also add in sweet kiss along with water pulse for a sure chance of confusion, as long as it hits. Water pulse still only has a 60% chance.
Blissey isn't made to attack, it's made to stall and to pass on enormous Wishes.

Blissey (F) @Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
252 Def / 252 SDef / 4 SpAttack
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)

  • Ice beam
  • Toxic
  • Protect
  • Calm Mind

Ice beam has Good Power, High Accuracy, More chance of freezing by Serene Grace! Then toxic is for the usual blissey annoyer. Protect is for KILLING with toxic. Calm mind to raise the sp. defence stat as well as sp. attack, making Ice beam a lot more powerful!

Yes, but don't go with protect. It's just a waste when you can heal with soft-boiled and make Blissey last longer. Then it can kill your opponent with full health every time!
lol he is banned
Banned? You mean Blissey? How? It's a beast!

AHHH SO FREAKING LATE BUT OK

I use Blissey as, of course, a Cleric. Her job is to go in and help everybody else, and, if need be, take out another Pokemon. Sort of a revenge killer in some situations.

Bliss (Blissey) (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure or Healer- You can either help Blissey or possibly help the adjacent ally. Very helpful in either situation.
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Relaxed Nature +Def anybody?
- Wish To help the rets of the team should their health be low.
- Heal Bell To help herself.
- Psychic To take care of a Fighting Type if she needs to RK.
- Toxic It really helps when she backs up everybody else.

answered Dec 21, 2012 by MonochromeFurret
First of all, you must be talking about Chansey, as Eviolite doesn't benefit her at all. Giving her max Def is utterly useless as she won't be walling Physical attackers anytime soon. Psychic is just bad on her, she wouldn't even be able to 2HKO Infernape, iirc. Oh, and she isn't a revenge killer. Just no.

im also late on this but my idea is this
enter image description here

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EV: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpDef
Calm Nature
-Softboiled/Wish
-Light Screen
-Counter
-Toxic

my blissey is a counter blissey with light screen to encourage physical attacks. with max hp and def to make sure she doesn't get 1 hit KOed, counter can be a huge nuscence to deal with. toxic is obvious and softboiled is so she can recover if needed, but if you want a more team oriented blissey you could use wish.

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Bold Nature (+Def,-Atk)
EVs:252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp.Def
-Softboiled
-Minimize
-Charge Beam
-Toxic

Basically, the role of this Blissey is to stall and sweep at the same time, Softboiled is for healing, and Minimize sharply raises her Evasiveness, meaning you can max out Blisseys Evasiveness in three turns! Charge Beam, paired with Serene Grace, raises Special Attack literally every time you use it. As for Toxic, it is a deadly weapon with Blissey, Although, watch out for opponents with Guts e.g Hariyama! http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQZynft9ZioK7KU4SLTI3I9yWWCcQj0hzoji9-4rsfCLKkO7bkQW-1tcEWx
