I would replace Assurance with Roost(unless you use this Fearow in double battles, otherwise Assurance is almost useless at 50 damage)

Yay for gimmicks!

Gen V

Fearow (M) @ Life Orb

Trait: Sniper

EVs: 88 Atk / 168 SAtk / 252 Spd

Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)

  • Drill Peck
  • Drill Run
  • Work Up
  • Tri Attack

It might look gimmicky, but I find it works just as well as anything else Fearow runs. Work Up allows it to be a surprising mixed attacker. And while your attacking stats might be low to start, Work Up and Life Orb fix that soon enough. Drill Peck and Tri Attack provide STAb, and Tri Attack might even get in a nice status effect, I mean, nothing would annoy the foe more than having your Fearow freeze their Garchomp. Drill Run provides type coverage that Fearow has always been wanting, it takes down Rock and Steel. Sniper is just nice to have when you get a critical hit, it's not like Keen Eye is any good.

Fearow (M) @ Life Orb

Role: Physical Sweeper

Trait: Sniper

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Drill Peck
  • Drill Run
  • Roost
  • Return

Standard Physical Sweeper.

Drill Peck And Return Offer some Pretty nice Dual STAB,

While Drill Run Gives nice Eletric and Rock Coverage, Roost to try to pull off if possible to recover from Life orb Recoil.

Drill Peck: STAB.

Return STAB.

Pursuit: Takes down switching foes, who would usually be Pokemon weak to Fearow.

HP Ground: x4 damage to Steel/Rock types. Fearow can't do much else.

Gen III

Fearow (F) @ Choice Band

Ability: Keen Eye

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Drill Peck
  • Tri Attack
  • Mud-Slap
  • Faint Attack

Remind you of anybody?

Drill Peck is probably the best flying STAB in Gen III, and Tri Attack has a 20% Chance to screw your opponent in a variety of ways, fun.
Mud Slap is the same situation as Pidgeot, Actually hit's moderately hard, and Lowers Accuracy, and Faint Attack is still there to Screw Ghosts. Yes, this is another Keen Eye user with an Infinite Accuracy move.

Double/Triple Battle

Fearow (M) @ Life Orb

Trait: Sniper
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) / Jolly (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Drill Peck
- Frustration
- Drill Run
- Assurance/Tailwind

Adamant Nature should be used if using Tailwind. If not using Tailwind, go with Jolly. Drill Peck is STAB that can hit any foe in a Triple Battle. Frustration is STAB. Drill Run is type coverage. Assurance can hit hard thanks to it being a multi-battle, but you can also run team/Fearow support by using Tailwind.
