Nature: Hasty (+Speed, -Defense)

-Earthquake (Deals with Fire Pokemon)

-Ice Punch (Deals with Ground Pokemon)

Generation V

Metagross@rocky helmet

Trait: clear body

Role: tank

Nature: relaxed

EV`s: HP 193/ Attack 247 / Defense 256

Earthquake-covers fire type weaknesses. Its earthquake people!
Stone Edge-totally gets rid of fire types and others .
Meteor Mash-great STAB move and raises attack.
Psychic-another good STAB choice. lowers opponents sp. def. good to use over and over again.

You could also replace any of these moves with agility if you wanted, but I would recommend you stick to this moveset.

EVs= Multiples of 4 :)
yep:) ...
193, 247, and 256 are definitely multiples on 4. Plus, there is a cap of 255 EVs in a stat. e_e

My metagross moveset, great for both in-game and online play

Metagross @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 128 SDef / 128 Spd

Meteor Mash- Super STAB and what's a metagross without this move?
Bullet Punch- Bone-breaking priority STAB and to dish out that last bit of damage to KO a foe
Zen Headbutt - STAB, chance to make foe flinch
*Earthquake/Hammer Arm
- powerful moves, pick either one depending on your team's weaknesses

Couple things. I edited it to make it a bit clearer. You have no nature. And Hammer Arm + Speed EVs is not generally recommended.

Metagross @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Clear Body
EVs:252 Atk / 252 SpE / 4 Hp
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt

Niche:So Basically with his Lackluster Speed its allowed to be outsped by everything so by giving it Max Speed EVs and Choice Scarf it allows it to outspeed more I.e It outspeeds any unboosted Pokemon up to base speed of 130

Metagross is a potential defender as well as a powerful offender, we call the type as a 'tank'. so, to choose logically we have to see few of its characteristics:

  1. its main offense lies in its attack stats, main weakness is speed. it's weak on special defense.
  2. its preferred ability is clear body: so, its attack stat cant be lowered.
  3. make it hold a 'light clay', an item to increase the duration of the move, 'light screen'

strategy: we can make a metagross which can harm its worst foes handsomely, conceal its special defense weakness, use its STAB + high attack stat... or, at a cost of any 1 of this, raise its speed (still not much good) so that we can help this tank to escape from its battlefield (not a glorious thing to do, but if you are willing, teach it Agility)....

movesets with logic:
1. earthquake: to take down fire (supereffective + high Attack stat but no STAB) and fighting ( types (high Attack stat + fighting types dont fly except for only 1, so high damage is assured)
2. light screen: to protect it from special attacks and also its allies... (so, it makes it a team man)
3. meteor mash: high attact stat + STAB + okay accuracy (to increase its accuracy in cost of power go with iron head) + may further raise attack
4. zen headbutt: STAB + high Attack stat but lacks accuracy

so, its main weapons would be light screen and earthquake, and in supereffective cases, meteor mash. in an era of the Fairy intrusion, metagross with meteor mash/iron head is a gem.

other available options:
hammer arm (high power, high accuracy, no STAB), bullet punch (+1 priority, low power, STAB), explosion (high power, low HP move, but, this trick is a well known one and thus well coped up by many), agility (raises speed), iron defense (increases durability, not famous)...

cons of my chosen moveset: its speed stat is low, so, your foe may shift to a fighting type Pokemon with high speed (e.g. infernape) and hit you with brick break. its a point when your light screen will be a great flop. but, think once again, is it really useless?? guess not, you have your other buddies to take that offender on and keep your fingers crossed for the next time...

Another mega moveset
enter image description here--->enter image description here
Metagross @ Metagrossite
252 Atk/252 Spd/4 Hp
Adamant/ Jolly nature (your choice as it is fast enough at 110 base speed)
-Meteor Mash
-Zen Headbutt
-Ice Punch/Fire Punch/Thunder Punch

Alright lemme explain.
Meteor Mash is common STAB and good base power at 90 and a 20% chance of raising attack and covers Rock, Ice and Fairy. Zen Headbutt is a good STAB move and a decent 205 chance to flinch while covering Poison and Fighting. Earthquake because............ well its Earthquake and covers Fire-types. The last slot is depending on the rest of your team.

Hope this set brings victory to many! :D

Metagross @ Metagrossite
enter image description here
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe or 248 HP / 252 SpDef / 8 Atk
Jolly or Careful Nature
- Hone Claws/Agility
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Bullet Punch/Earthquake/Elemental Punch of your choice/Stealth Rock

Note: Only run Careful if you're running the Specially Defensive spread.
You can take two takes with this Metagross set. If you decide to run the all out offensive set, then it's more focused around setting a Hone Claws up if possible right from the get-go to start sweeping. However. the specially defensive spread makes it easier to set up lots of Hone Claws as well as making Metagross's already good bulk better. There's also the option of Agility for Speed.
Hone Claws makes you hit hard and gives you an accurate STAB Meteor Mash and Zen Headbutt. The last moveslot is depending on the type of coverage you want. Bullet Punch is priority, Earthquake is for Heatran, you could use something like Ice Punch for Salamence, or Stealth Rock for a lead Metagross.

I'm planning on running this:

Metagross @ Assault Vest
Ability: Clear body
EVs: 252 atk / 176 def / 80 sp.def
Adamant nature (+atk, -sp.atk)
- bullet punch
- earthquake
- zen headbutt
- ice punch

Thanks to Assault vest you get about the same amount of sp.def as you have in defense, which makes you even more bulky while you're still dealing tons of damage.
