I think of giratina as a god, so i gave it a random moveset
Giratina
Nature: Serious
Item: Griseous Orb
Ability: Levitate
Form: Do I even have to say?
- ThunderBolt (Good Damage, May paralyze)
- Psychic (May lower SP.Defense)
- Shadow Claw (Type Coverage, Hi-Critical Ratio)
- Shadow Force (High Damage, Type Coverage, Also Stops Protect or Detect)
This all started from teaching giratina thunder for no reason.
Sorry for all of the info too :P.

Shadow force/Shadow Ball/Shadow Claw, stab and type coverage

aura sphere, type coverage, never miss

dragon claw/dragon pulse, stab, type coverage

earth power/earthquake, type coverage, strong move

Aura Sphere- Deal with Dark Types, good power, perfect accuracy

Dragon Pulse- STAB, good power, good accuracy

Shadow Ball/ Or shadow Force- I would suggest shadow ball since it has more PP, and your opponent could switch into a normal type to evade the attack.

Stone edge/Earthquake-Both are high power, stone edge covers ice types, but Earthquake is more accurate. But earthquake as you know is one of the best attacks in the game.

Just a suggestion.

Aura Sphere already has Ice Covered so I'd go Earthquake

Well, it depends solely on what form it's in, seeing as Origin Forme Giratina is an offensive beast, but Altered Forme Giratina is more of a Tank. I'll just a give a moveset for both. :D

ORIGIN FORME (Seeing as you're playing Platinum, it's probably the forme you're using.):

Shadow Claw (STAB, used to hit other Ghosts.)
Outrage (STAB, deals with other Dragons)
Stone Edge (Used to deal with Ice-types, along with coverage against Bug, Fire, and Flying-types.)
Silver Wind (Weak Base Power, but it may boost all stats. Also provides coverage against Grass, Dark, and the rare Psychic-type with good Defense.)

ALTERED FORME:

Thunder Wave/Will-o-Wisp (Use one of these to cripple the opponent. It's your choice, regarding which one.)
Rest (With Giratina's enormous Bulk, Rest is fairly safe to use.)
Outrage (Same as above.)
Shadow Claw (Same as above.)

There's lots you can do with Giratina, because of its bulk, so there's lots of choices and movsets for Giratina to utilize. =)

Giratina Origin @ Griseous Orb

Ability: Levitate

EVs: 252 Atk / 120 Def / 120 SDef / 16 Spe

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Shadow Force
  • Outrage
  • Shadow Sneak
  • Will-O-Wisp/Dragon Tail

Giratina looks suspiciously like a Ghost/Steel type.
You cannot tell me it doesn't have like steel claws.

Shadow Force has an amazing base power of 216 including STAB and the Griseous Orb Boost.
Hearing some poeple prefer Shadow Claw/Ball over Shadow Force because afraid of a Normal type switching in, The only Normal types that might appear in the uber tier are Arceus and Blissey, Blissey cannot handle a STAB Griseous Orb Boosted Outrage, So that's not a problem.
Normal Arceus is more of a problem, But has immunity to all Ghost attacks anyway.
Outrage is also STAB and boosted further by Griseous Orb, 216 Base Power as well.
Shadow Sneak for some nice Priority being STAB. It has 72 base power with STAB and Griseous Orb, Which is good for a Priority move.
Will-O-Wisp can cripple something, Giving Giratina a nice Chance to use one of its attacks. Dragon Tail racks up some entry hazard and stops opponents who wants to set up.

The guy's got PLATINUM which is Gen IV, so Dragon Tail didn't even exist then.......
So he can still use him in Gen V, he could use the Poketransfer. And you can get the Griseous orb in B/W the shadow triad gives it too you.
plus these aren't specifically for the user who asked, we keep the questions here so we can post good movesets for the pokemon for all users to be able to use.

Your Dad (Giratina) @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Roar
- Will-O-Wisp

- Protect

Yuss this is a phazer. Deadly bulkiness will-o-wisp is for those who won't take t-spikes, protect stalls, dragon pulse is for taunters, roar does the phazing stuff

NOTE: this is Giratina Altered form

Why is this voted down you know how good this set is?
I hope Pokebase isn't going to turn into a version of Smogon... Smogonites hate originality.

That is a Bold nature
Bold is +Def. -Atk, I think. I'm pretty sure the nature is Calm. By the way, you spelled "ability" incorrectly. -.-

Giratina

Origin Forme
Ability- Levitate
Nature- Quiet
EVs- 252 Atk, 252 Sp.Atk, 4 HP
1. Shadow Force: Signature move+STAB+Semi invulnerability
2. Aura Sphere: Ice+Dark coverage
3. Draco Meteor
4. Shadow Claw/Dragon Claw/Shadow Ball

Alternate Forme
Ability- Pressure
Nature- Relaxed
EVs- 252 Def, 252 Sp.Def, 4HP
1. Shadow Force: Reasons listed above
2. Aura Sphere: Coverage needed still
3. Rest: Bulky in this forme
4. Heal Block/Will-O-Wisp: Healing prevented, slowly takes the foe down

NOTE- In the Origin Forme, you may not want a Modest or Adamant nature, seeing as how Giratina is an awesome mixed attacker, doing decent damage in both move categories.
In the Alternate Forme, however, Giratina is a tank, so a nature that boosts Defense or Special Defense but lowers Speed will help you a lot, seeing as how Giratina is fairly slow.
