Gallade has an extra-ordinary attack stat and its speed stat is relatively impressive... so I suggest going all-out attack on the opponent with it... my preferable move-set would be :
1. Night slash (the gost type is done for)
2. Psycho cut
3. Leaf blade
4. Ice punch
if with this move set... gallade is given a "quick claw" or "Scope leance" to hold.. well that would be a nightmare for the opponent !!!
This set of attack would also allow it be an effective attacking option against Dragon, water, ground, rock etc types.

No, try either one of these movesets:

  1. Normal moveset.

Night Slash: Used to deal with Ghost types, decent damage, good chance for critical hit, high accuracy.

Zen Headbutt: STAB, good power, decent accuracy, decent chance to cause flinching.

Leaf Blade: The best Physical Grass type attack. A great move.

Brick Break: Better than Drain Punch. More damage, more PP, can break through Light Screen and Reflect.

  1. This moveset makes use of stopping your foe from attacking, allowing for a powerful Focus Punch. I find it more reliable than Substitute on a fast Pokemon.

Focus Punch
Swagger
Thunder Wave
Attract

Kinda frank in your response but a good move-set, thanks
That move set can't do anything to ghost types
There is always going to be a foe that you can't beat. Most types are still beaten by this.
You know the Attract+Focus Punch combo! Cool!
These seem to be good idea's, i really need to make up lost ground for my gallade
I think good change Swagger to Night Slash cause can't do anything to ghost types like the Speed freak say
Anyone have one for a Mild Nature?
Im just wondering if this would work too:
Substitude
swordsdance
leafblade
brickbreak

Swords Dance-Raises its attacks to insane levels

Close Combat- He has low defense, the stat lowering won't make much of a difference.

Night slash-Deal with ghosts, decent power, high critical hit chance

earthquake-You knew it was coming.

Try this Strategy
Start with Subsitute, then use focus punch, plus Gllade will get STAB. If you don't want this, use Close Combat or Drain pUnch instead.
Psycho Cut(STAB psychic move when subsitute, focus punch doesnt work.
Swords Dance or Leaf Blade(to raise attack or cuz its an awesome move)

This is the Gallade I fear.
Fear Itself, fears this Gallade.
That's how effective and powerful it is.
Ah my Peanutbutter, making me proud as always.
This should be called the FEAR Gallade. It's so fearsome that even Fear fears it!

Try this - (its very simple but works for me)

-Psycho Cut / Zen Headbutt(if you hold the zoom lens)
-Close Combat (Obvious)
-Reflect (To cover the close combat d lose)
-Ice Punch (flying, ground, dragon, grass - isnt that enough)

It can hold either life orb or leftovers

I loved using my Gallade focused on scoring critical hits
Held Item: Razor Claw
Close Combat STAB and a powerful ending move due to def loss
Psycho Cut STAB high crit ratio and Gallade's signature move
Leaf Blade high crit ratio and an all out powerful move
Stone Edge high crit ratio takes down flying types low accuracy, but insane base power
with this moveset, you have an amazing chance of scoring a critical hit which in turn mades your opponent frustrated ^_^

i don't know much but what i have in mind is:
nature: adamant (or jolly to keep attack high but increase speed. i dont care about certain natured sets)
moves:
night slash-good with ghosts
close combat-amazing STAB
swords dance-amazing attack
zen headbut (for flinch)/psycho cut (for MORE crits)/stone edge (crit+type advantage)/leaf blade
Im not good with sets but i hope this helps a teeny bit to say the most. :P

This actually isn't quite bad for a moveset.

Gen 4 Gallade
Adamant
252attack ev's, 4 def ev's and 252 speed ev's

Thunder punch
Psycho cut
Brick break/close combat
Bulk up/night slash

I find Thunder punch better than stone edge for coverage, close combat is for power and brick break is for screen breaking. Bulk up is to make up for defense loss from close combat, while night slash is for coverage.

Gallade (M) @Leftovers
Trait: Steadfast
Nature: Hasty (+Spd -Def)
EV's: 252 Spd. 252 Atk. 4 Hp

  • Zen Headbutt- STAB & Coverage against flying
  • Drain Punch- STAB
  • Bulk Up- Raises Atk. & Def.
  • Night Slash- Coverage + High Crit. Ratio

Hope his Helps! ^_^

answered Jul 6, 2012 by ∞Charizard∞
Gallade cannot learn Zen Headbutt.
Yes he can, by move tutor.
Can he? Whoops, sorry! XD
Why Zen Headbutt is a coverage against flying?
It will hit flying the hardest out of these moves. But it is not suoer-effective coverage
Jolly would be better, won't it?

Gallade

Nature: Jolly
Ev's 252 Atk 160 Spd 96 Hp
Ability: Steadfast
Role: Tankish Sweeper

Moveset:

Bulk up ( Raises attack, and makes defense up there with Sp Def )

Drain Punch ( Keeps him alive while doing some massive damage, more usefull in gen V )

Psycho Cut / Zen Headbutt ( Psychic STAB )

Night Slash / Stone Edge ( Night slash gives you something on other psychics, while Stone Edge Covers your Flying weakness.

Gallade (M) @ Lagging Tail

Role: Tricker / Sweeper

Trait: Steadfast

EVs: 96 HP / 80 Atk / 252 Def / 80 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Trick
  • Bulk Up
  • Drain Punch
  • Zen Headbutt

Trick gives opponents a Lagging Tail to screw their speed up, and let him outspeed easier.
Bulk Up increases physical bulk, and allows an attack boost, while Drain Punch is STAB and recovery, and Zen Headbutt is STAB and Flinching.

Wifi Gallade

@ Razor Claw Adamant/Careful nature
Thunder Wave
Psycho Cut
Night Slash
Stone Edge

T-Wave screws up speed and of course, may hax the opponent. Night Slash is high-Crit-Ghost coverage. Especially useful against Dusknoir. Stone Edge screws Flying and Ice, Bug, and Fire, too. Able to get easy crits, as is Psycho Cut, which is STAB.

Gallade

Gallade @ Leftovers
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SDef/ 252 Def/ 4 Atk
Careful Nature (+SDef,-SAtk) or Impish Nature (+Def,-SAtk)

  • Mean Look
  • Encore
  • Disable/ Torment
  • Psycho Cut/ Close Combat

The same strategy as my previously posted Gardevoir moveset. First, use Mean Look. Then, use Encore to lock the foe into a move. Next turn, if you resist, use Torment/Disable. The opponent is now forced to use Struggle and you have an automatic KO! The opponent can't escape anymore. Psycho Cut/Close Combat is STAB and is for not being a Taunt bait.

Gallade (M) @ Leftovers

Role: Sweeper / Tank

Trait: Steadfast

EVs: 96 HP / 144 Atk / 252 Def / 16 Spd

Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)

  • Destiny Bond
  • Thunder Wave
  • Leaf Blade
  • Drain Punch

His speed is pretty bad, but Thunder Wave makes up for that, on top of the fact that it lets him strike first for a Destiny Bond!
Drain Punch is STAB and can keep him going for a while.
Leaf Blade is coverage.

Leaf Blade - Coverage.
Night Slash - Moar Coverage.

Gallade can be a critical hit MASTER.

Leaf Blade: High critical hit ratio, 90 damage.

Night Slash: High critical hit ratio, 75 damage. Kills super effective ghost pokemon.

Psycho Cut: High critical hit ratio, 70 damage, friendly psychic move.

Brick Break: 75 damage, friendly fighting move.

Item: razor claw/scope lens.

I personally have never tested the move set below, but I have a feeling it could serve you well:

Psycho Cut: good physical psychic move, high critical ratio

Night Slash: defense from ghost, high critical ratio

Leaf Blade: just to help it cover more types, high critical ratio

Swords Dance: all its moves are physical anyway, I mean, why not? -or-
Stone Edge: defense from flying, high critical ratio

Notice how all its moves have a higher critical chance? Have it hold a razor claw and you may find it unleashing critical hits at a frightening rate!
