Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Mismagius?

2 votes

Mine is EV trained in defense and Sp. Def. It knows:

Shadow Ball: Good power, high accuracy, STAB, used to deal with Ghost types, decent chance to lower Sp. Def.

Spite: Lowers the foes PP.

Psychic: Good power, high accuracy, chance to lower Sp. Def.

Energy Ball: Good power, high accuracy, chance to lower Sp. Def like almost every move with a power range of 80-90 nowadays. Remember when almost every move was unique in it's ability, power, PP, and accuracy. Almost no move was the same in at least three ways. Now look at my moveset.

Why not give swampert the best answer in the last question, and give me the other one in this question?
Thats a good idea! Bt I have To go, you can as movesets, but don't choose the best answer until ive answered!
Okay, that seems fair since both are equal in both.
You guys use computers, I use a phone since I don't have a computer.

Shadow ball-Stab, ghost weakness

nasty plot-insane sweeping force

pain split-good for when she's weak, and could also work with substitutes if you wanted to use that.

thunderbolt/energy ball/hidden power[fighting]-Your run of the mill coverage moves.

Role: Tank

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 128 HP / 160 Def / 58 SAtk / 80 SDef / 80 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

-Hidden Power [Fighting]

Willo Wisp gives it better tolerance to Physical Moves, while powering Up Hex's power.

Thunderbolt gives great coverage, and HP Fighting covers his dark weakness.

- Substitute-Perfect for coming in on something like a Scarfed staraptor or almost any supportive normal type. Allows it to set up as they switch.
- Shadow Ball-STAB.
- Hidden Power [fighting]-Covers dark weakness as well as normal types that try to come in on shadow ball immunity.
- Nasty Plot-Boosts up special attack.

Gen IV

Misdreavus (M) @ Choice Scarf

Role: Rain Support

Trait: Levitate

EVs: 128 HP / 160 Def / 58 SAtk / 80 SDef / 80 Spd

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

-Rain Dance
-Confuse Ray

You can trick your choice scarf onto your opponent, locking them into something like a stat raising move, and then even confuse them, and now you set up Rain Dance, and Thunder if necesarry.

Generation VI

Ability: Levitate
Nature: Modest (+SpAtk, -Attack)
Role: Special Sweeper
Item: Ghost powering item
EVs: 252 SpAtk/ 252 Speed/ 4 SpDef

Shadowball: STAB, deals with Ghost weakness.
Dazzling Gleam: Deals with Dark weakness.
Calm Mind: Boosts her already good Special Attack for more damage and boosts her good Special Defense.
Pain Split: My favorite move in Pokemon. When your low on HP use this on a higher HP Pokemon to really mess with them, a great move for healing and dealing damage.

Item: Evolite
Nature: Bold
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Defense, 100 S.Defense, 158 Hp

Will-o-wisp lowers the opponents Attack thus increasing overall bulk, it also stalls. Pain-split heals and damages. Calm-mind increases S.def and S.attack which helps his bulk and damage. HP(Fighting) covers Steel and Dark types.

If you're Taunted, about any Ghost type can come in and not only resist HP Fighting, but hit you super effective.
Then I switch out (O.O).
Well... Shadow Tag Chandelure is popular.
Well, I doubt Misdreavus is going to be used in OU.

Ah, Mismagius, one of my very favorite Pokemon from gen 4

enter image description here
Mismagius@spooky plate (Ghost attacks provide good neutral coverage)

EVs: 252 sp.atk, 252 spe, and 4 sp.def

Nature: timid/modest

Role: special sweeper

  • Shadow ball
  • Energy ball
  • Psychic
  • Destiny bond/Confuse ray/Dazzling gleam/Hp (Fighting)

Shadow ball is strong stab move, energy ball is nice coverage, and psychic is also nice coverage
Now, here it really depends on you:
if you want to annoy physical attackers with confuse ray,
take out a Pokemon when at low hp with destiny bond,
cover dark weakness with dazzling gleam,
or take out those pesky normal types with Hp (fighting)

I haven't seen any sets utilizing the "Pinch Berries," so here's one!

Mismagius @ Salac Berry

-Nasty Plot
-Shadow Ball
-Dazzling Gleam

Nasty Plot Mismagius

Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spa, 252 Spe, 4 Def
Nature: Timid
Item: Life Orb/Spooky Plate/Colbur Berry

Nasty Plot is for boosting her Special Attack by two stages, making her a powerful sweeper.
Shadow Ball is STAB and has good neutral coverage on almost all types.
Dazzling Gleam is to hit Dark types that threaten her. Also used to hit Fighting and Dragon types. Hidden Power Fighting can also be used to hit Dark types as well as Steel, Rock, Normal and Ice types.
Thunderbolt or Energy Ball are for bulky Water types. Thunderbolt also hits Flying types whereas Energy Ball hits Ground and Rock types as well as Water types that are immune to Thunderbolt. Destiny Bond can be used to take down an opposing Pokemon on your way out.

Other options include Will-O-Wisp which is useful for burning the majority of physical attackers. Pain Split can be used for recovering health. Taunt is good for stopping stall and defensive Pokemon relying on status, hazards and set-up moves. Life Orb is for extra power, Spooky Plate is for buffing Shadow Ball's power while Colbur Berry allows her to survive Dark type moves.

I'm actually surprised that people didn't use this moveset!

Miss Meanie
Item: Focus Sash/ Kee Berry/ Colbur Berry/ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 128 Def/ 128 SDef/ 252 Spd
Bold Nature

-Mean Look
-Perish Song
-Protect/Pain Split/Shadow Ball

The plan is straightforward, really. You send out Mismagius somewhere in the battle and Mean Look. After that, you Perish Song and boom! Them plot is set. You can further abuse the opponent by will-o-wisping and down their attack goes. Protect is to further stalling, Pain Split for healing, and Shadow Ball to not be taunt bait.

Personally I like this Mismagius move set:

Nature: Timid/Sassy
Ability: Levitate
- Shadow Ball (Good ghost move with high accuracy and sweet power)
- Destiny Bond (In case of emergencies)
- Subsitute (Not much can get past it now right?)
- Thunder Bolt (Great backup attack)
