Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Serperior?

8 votes

I was thinking leaf blade as one of them, and swords dance as another.

No need for me to answer. This guy doesn't have anything else. Actually quite a shallow movepool. I am actually starting to think Borderline is his zone. But likely tier: Overused.
Hey everyone think first serperior with perseverity ISN'T OUT YET for the dream world!!!
That doesn't matter. We can still use those abilities on Pokemon Online.
How do you do it?
Can't believe he is NU xD
WIth Contrary, he should be OU.
Will anyone help me with this? How do you vote on this site. Yeah I'm kinda new.
Come to the Chat Room.

I Thought This Might Be Good. I Will Give Sets WITHOUT CONTRARY! And Then Trachy could Do The One with it.

Special Sweeper:

Calm Mind: To Get That Sp. Attack Up.
Energy Ball/Giga Drain: STAB
Wring Out: For Weakneing
Glare/Toxic: Glare Will Help with Setting Calm Mind Up. And Toxic will make the opponet switch away, for a free calm mind.
Nature: Modest: Need Sp. Attack
EVS: 252 Sp. Attack, 252 Defense, 4 HP: As For Sp. Attack, You Get it. Defense because Calm Mind Raises Sp. Defense, so Some Defense might be good.

Physical:

Swords Dance: Of Course!
Leaf Blade: STAB
Return: Good Neutral Coverage
Iron Tail/Aerial Ace/Glare/Toxic: For a little coverage, or to set up the dance Glare. Or Toxic becuz.
Nature: Adamant
Item: Razor Claw: Leaf Blades the Main Move, and the more Crit Hits it gets, the better.
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Hp

Physical Wall:
Coil: To Raise Attack, Defesne, and Acc.
Leaf Blade: STAB
Iron Tail/Return: Coverage, or Neutrel power
Toxic/Glare: For Setting Up.
Item: Shell Bell
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Defense, 4 HP

Wow, Long answer.

Yeah but u could breed until u get a mischievous timid Serperior!
WHOA mine is timid but it's attack is higher wtf?
Well what IV does it have?
Yeah my Serperior is a Physical User so it Knows Outrage and Leaf Blade instead of Giga Drain and Dragon Pulse
im building the special sweeper Serperior but im gonna cut the defense Evs in half and add in some Speed

Snowball Sweeping Serperor

Ability: Contrary
suggested item:Leftovers, big root

  • Leaf Storm
  • Giga Drain
  • Hidden power [rock]/[fire]
  • Mean Look

The idea with this set is to lock your opponent in with mean look, then build up leaf storm damage. You should only trap pokemon you know it can survive against. You launch a few leaf storms at them, then max out your special attack. Giga Drain is there to restore your health soon after. Since your opponent's next pokemon will be one that is super effective against it, rock is probably the more common choice, because even a steel type would have trouble coming in on this guy at full power.

Who voted this down and why
No reason to vote this down. I find no reason to vote this up, seeing as it isn't the best moveset for Serperior imo, although it would be useful for ingame. But there is nothing decidingly wrong with it to make it deserve a down vote. So I'll just cancel that out.
Really, even after what I said this was continued to be voted down?
Thats all i use it for is ingame. I have a complete other serperior with contrary and a pretty good moveset for competitive

B/W2

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Contrary
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 S.Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Hp

Leaf-storm

Dragon-pulse

Hidden-power (Fire)

Synthesis

Black and White 2 gave him some important new Move-tutor moves. Leaf-storm is a given as it doubles his S.Attack in one turn and has super high power. Dragon-pulse YES!!!! Finally! Now his movepool is not so easily resisted, in fact only Heatran resists it now! Great Neutral coverage. Hidden-power (Fire) is great paired with Dragon-pulse and has great coverage. Synthesis gives him reliable healing, this is very useful as he is a bulky sweeper. This set is also good for Sun teams as it powers up Hidden-power (Fire) and Synthesis.

I suggest HP Ground.
I disagree, with HP Ground less Pokemon take super-effective damage from me, and the uncommon Shedinja and the VERY common Skarmory stall me. Also Ferrothorn only takes neutral damage from me instead of super-effective.
I hate the fact that he's walled by Heatran D=
True, but a few boosts from Leaf Storm!  Serperior will be at its max at 400% SP. Attack, so that's STILL a ton of damage regardless of Heatran's resistances.

Okay, lets get the perversity set out the way, then do the real unexpected set. (everyone is gonna do the Contrary set, leading to a quick counter to it.)

Leaf Storm-yeah yeah...

Hidden power[Rock]-covers 4 weaknesses with one move

Toxic-does more steady damage.

Mean look-Traps the foe, preventing super effective switch ins.

Physical sweepers:

Leaf blade-grass stab, critical hits...

Swords dance-powers up attacking moves.

Iron tail-all power. Covers ice weakness.

Reflect/Light screen-more defensive power

Aerial ace-Covers Bug weakness

Special:

Leaf storm/energy ball-although he doesn't have perversity with this set, it's still damaging. Or just stick with energy ball.

calm mind-He powers up to be a threat with this.

hidden power [Rock]-covers most weaknesses with this.

reflect/Light screen-Gives added defense.

My personal favorite set (with Contrary)

Leaf storm-comes off with boosted power

hidden power [Rock]

Reflect-leads to the next move...

Mirror coat-Since your opponent will be more inclined to use special attacks due to reflect, this would work perfectly. It's pretty unexpected too.

Serperior (F) @ Miracle Seed
Trait: Contrary
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- Leaf Storm
- Taunt

i thought it was fast enough without a speedy nature, whats going on with this?
Well, it is fast without it, but it will be outsped more in that case. And it doesn't need special attack, as it has boosts from Leaf Storm. Nature for other stats would just be a waste.
could you please name something that could outspeed  it and possibly ohko it?
If Serperior did not have a Speed boosting nature, it could be outsped by any Pokemon with base 100 Speed or higher with a Speed boosting nature, and it can be hit first by slow Scarfed Pokemon. There are too many too name who could outspeed Serperior if it did not have a speed boosting nature.

Hmm.....

Item: Miracle Seed if using Giga Drain, due to there being two Grass type attacks. Otherwise, Leftovers is probably best.

Ev's 252 sp atk 252 speed 4 Speed

Nature: Timid

Ability: Contrary

  • Leaf Storm
  • Giga Drain / Wring Out
  • Hp - Fire
  • Taunt

Role: Lead

Hey J98, do you mind if I edit this to include my item of choice here? This is the exact same as my Serperior lead (with Giga Drain, not Wring Out.)
Haha I guess great minds think alike :p

But yeah, Its cool.
How can you have 252speed and 4speed evs?
2 votes

Use this after hazards are out

Serperior (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Coil
- Dragon Tail
- Synthesis
- Taunt / Leaf Blade

You can coil up for better bulk and harder hitting. Along with an accuracy boost! ( Yes! Now Dragon Tail won't miss! ). Synthesis is good reliable healing for if you get too beat down. Taunt can stop other phazers and taunters in their tracks. While Leaf Blade is for if you get a lot of Coils and think you can just straight up tank over your opponents.

iron tail/aerial ace

Well it is a pretty good start on my opinion.

With perversity you can reverse changes to your stats so I would recommend

Jaroda@Choice Specs Perversity
Leaf Storm (raises Sp. Att = Nasty Plot)
HP [Ice]
Taunt
Toxic

Leaf Storm is your move of choice here, HP [Ice] is to deal with any Dragon types (4X Resistance) thye other to moves are just filler, you need scarf specs cause its sp. Att isn't that great at first.

answered Dec 25, 2010 by Dragonite_FTW
No it doesn't leaf storm will sharply boost S.attack
It will sharply LOWER your SP.attack.
Perversity reverses the stat changes for the Pokemon. Leaf Storm's power will raise by 100% everytime it is used, leading to a cap of 400% the original damage (Check that for number changes; may be wrong). This measure can OHKO Shuckle, and 2HKO Metagross, which is incredibly powerful. It makes Jarlorda an incredible wallbreaker.

Strategy type: Defensive
Nature: Modest
Item: Big Root - to increase hp received from giga drain and leech seed
Moveset:
Giga Drain - to heal and damage

Toxic - to drain hp

Leech Seed - to heal and drain

Protect - Evade damage while healing through Leech seed or draining hp

Strategy Comment:
Great for most pokemon, including weakness but very ineffective against Grass/Poison Types

answered Dec 22, 2011 by Pyronapalm
i like this one but what evs for this set?
does big root actually increase the amount gained from leech seed?

Sun Serperior
.Growth- doubles atk and spatk due to sun
.solar beem- stab with no delay
.Hidden power rock- covers fly and fire weekness
Toxic or dragon tail- toxic to stall dragon tail to deal with dragons and to phaze
100hp 152spatk 252speed modest or timid
@leftovers with ability overgrow

answered Feb 14, 2012 by Blobyolo
Its not a sun Serperior if it doesn't have Sunny day.
But if it's on a team that uses a Pokemon with Drought, it's already set up.

Here is my faverite

Serperior@contrary

Item: leftovers

Evs: 252 S.attack, 252 speed, 6 hp

Nature: Timid

Leaf storm: STAB that boosts

Hidden power(rock): Strong against all but one weakness

Wring out/Giga-drain: POWER, or STAB to keep his hp high

Glare: 90 acc paralyze to cripple other sweepers

answered Jul 19, 2011 by Speed freak

Wring out is based on the opponent's health, not your own so the leftovers won't help there. Plus, why use that when you could use the STAB move that boosts up special attack?

item: scope lens

moves:

toxic---defensive pokemon is great with this

dragon tail---bring out the next foe and poison them...rinse&repeat

leaf blade---will do critical hit with scope lens

Giga Serperior.

Ability: Overgrow (don´t have access to Contrary ability yet).
Nature: Timid or Modest (preferred but it´s up to you).
EV: 252 Def, 252 Speed, 4 HP (move first to set it up).
Item: Big Root (It works better with this moveset than Leftovers).

Moves:
Giga Drain - STAB Move, deals damage and recovers some HP, gets a boost from Big Root and Overgrow ability when it has low HP. If it has a chance to increase its Sp. Attk it´ll do more damage.
Calm Mind: Increases Sp. Attk and Sp. Def, this way Serperior will become bulkier and lethal, the more damage it does, the more HP it drains. It can take more hits when hidden behind the Substitute.
Leech Seed: It heals Serperior and with the boost from Big Root, it almost restores all HP lost by using Substitute. In Multi battles, forces a switch and helps the team in case it faints.
Substitute - Protects Serperior against major status problems, critical hits and super effective moves and allows it to set up the strategy. Ideal to use first when you know you cannot hit hard your opponent.

Thanks.

Serperior @ Grass Gem/Leftovers
Nature: Timid
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4HP
- Swords Dance (Boost attack)
- Leaf Blade (Powerful, chance for Critical hit)
- Substitute (Predict enemy switch, or see opponents move)
- Return (Good Neutral Damage)

Not the best, but works well for me.
