I don't know what's up with you guys; this thing is friggin' awesome!

Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Def/248 Sp. Def/8 Spd
Nature: Bold/Impish

Substitute - With Prankster, this will almost always go first, meaning you'll rarely take a hit.

Leech Seed - Completes the very stock SubSeed strategy.

Taunt - Great for other Whimsicott that'll try to set up on you.

Encore - Perfect for any sweeper that tries to set up on you. Can you say infinite Dragon Dance?

dd then u use encore then u use taunt, the HELL WITH THAT! COOL!!!
take put taunt, replace it with torment so its a struggle stategy and put cotton guard to make struggle weaker
This sucks when it's vs a grass type O_0
Honestly, this is the most viable moveset. Just a quick remark and a question:

Remark: I'd add 40 points into HP for an extra point of leftover recovery (if this is the intended item). You can also add an additional 4 to obtain an odd number to lessen entry hazard damage, which I chose to do.

Question: what is the 8 Spe IV for? Any particular goal?

The IV spread I used w/ Impish nature was 44HP, 200 Def, 252 SpD, 8 Spe. Same moves w/ leftovers as item.

Explanation: Hp stats for previously mentioned reasons. 200 Def and 252 SpD in attempt to even out defenses and, finally, 8 Spe IV, cause I assume these IVs have an intended use. Let me know about those IVs (if you ever get this. New here and don'y know if people get notifications)
I think movesets like these are pointless it would take an hour to kill 1 pokemon! I hate the move encore and substitute
The only other thing I would add, is an option for Light Screen instead of Substitute. Substitute can be hard to obtain especially in ORAS. Light Screen cuts Sp Attack in half, which is a good alternative.

Good speed but bad everything else. Special movepool looks best:

  • Leech Seed (couple with Leftovers)
  • Energy Ball
  • Psychic
  • Hurricane aka Windstorm

why did you answer yourself!
These move set questions are here just to be able to have a whole database of different move sets for every pokemon. Pokemaster has a set that he wanted to share, so he posted it as an answer. These questions are for the whole community, not just for Pokemaster.

I'm going to use my Whimsicott as a support when he's reach level 100, and these are the moves I plan to use. He wasn't specially bred or anything, but unfortunately I wasn't able to give him encore, but I'd prefer it instead of Leech Seed.

Ability: Prankster
Toxic (To help wear the enemies down)
Substitute (to stop Whimsicott from getting attacked)
Leech Seed (To revive Whimsicott's HP after Substitute)
Psychic/Energy Ball (Haven't decided yet, Energy Ball is a good special grass attack for a grass pokemon, but Psychic will be strong against fighting/poison types which tend to do a lot of damage to my team)

I battled a guy on Showdown in 1vs1 who said I could post this if I wanted.

(LV1)Cottonee @ Focus Sash
Trait: Prankster
Leech Seed

Basically, set up Leech Seed, Protect, use Sub(Prankster will allow you to move first), and keep wearing your opponent down.

A Pokemon that would be horrible if it wasn't for Mischeivous Heart, meaning it is now just bad (which is better than horrible.)

Ability: Mischeivous Heart

EVs: Sp Attack, Sp Def, Def Nature: Bold

Encore: Perfect. Perfect. Just perfect.

Giga Drain: Damage combined with healing.

Hidden Power Rock: I'm going to start suggesting this now. I've found out how to get it the way I want easily. I am so happy.

Psychic: Deals with Poison types.

Whimsicott (F) @ Focus Sash

Trait: Prankster

EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef

Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)

  • Taunt
  • Leech Seed
  • Substitute
  • Protect

You've likely faced this little guy. As such, you know what these moves are for.

It wouldn't do well vs grass type sincee leech seed is worthless against it.

Nature: Calm (+SDef -Attack)
EVs: 252 SDef, 252 HP and 4 Speed
Leech Seed
Cotton Guard
Giga Drain/HP Rock/Toxic

So what I do is send Whimsicott against a Physical Attacker and use Cotton Guard twice so his defense will be really high and he'll be able to take many hits. Next, I use Substitute and then Leech Seed so he'll get Leftovers and Leech Seed which is awesome. For the last move there are a few options Giga Drain for STAB and health regeneration with Leftovers and Leech Seed which is super duper or HP Rock for coverage and last but not least Toxic to slowly but painfully kill your opponent with Leech Seed. I like using Giga Drain just in case I get Taunted but the other moves work well too.

I love this strategy! I'm going to make one with Giga Drain and try it out.
This is the only one that worked well on showdown compared to the rest which just sucked hard

Whimsicott @ leftovers

Ability: Prankster Role: Staller

EVs: 252 def/252 Sdef/ 4 HP Nature: Calm

  • Substitute
  • Toxic
  • Taunt
  • Protect/Giga Drain/Psychic

if you are worried about being taunted use Giga Drain or Psychic.

Fun in the Sun Sweeper

Item: Leftovers
Nature: Modest
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 60 Speed, 252 S.Attack, 198 Hp

Growth Boosts your S.Attack(and Attack but that is not important here) by two stages in the sun. Solar-beam is very Strong STAB. Psychic is for coverage. HP(Fire) is for coverage and is boosted by the sun.

@ Flame Orb
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Switcheroo
- Cotton Guard
- Charm / Giga Drain

Impenetrable Physical Wall.
Switcheroo burns, while Cotton Guard raises Def to the max in 2 turns, while taunt destroys other taunters when they switch in. Charm is to lower Atk even further, or Giga Drain provides a way of healing, and makes you not a total taunt bait.

Item: Focus-sash
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Timid/Jolly
EVs: 252 Speed, 252 Hp, 4 Defense

This is a great Pokemon to use to set the stage for a Stat booster or a Pokemon that makes use of Subs. Taunt prevents the foe from setting up any hazards or statuses that could potentially foil the strategy. Stun-spore is great for crippling and it works on all types. Encore one of the most annoying moves in the universe. And finally Memento you half the offense of the opponent then go to a Pokemon that can boost while your foe is busy swearing about his now nearly useless Pokemon. While normally after you use Memento the opponent will switch out but remember you still get in a boost on the turn they switch and they have a paralyzed Pokemon and did not get a chance to set up their hazards.

Whimsicott (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Cotton Guard
- Leech Seed
- Toxic
- Protect

Taunt is a problem, but really.. it's predictable enough to switch out on.
Cotton Guard will pretty much always go first ( prankster ) so you're set for bulky defenses.
Leech Seed and Toxic will slowly kill your opponent ( while Leech Seed feeds you back HP )
Protect stalls out Leech seed, Toxic, AND Leftovers.

I am sooo bored. Anyways that is of no relevant use here. This is my favorite set for the cotton ball.

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
128 HP/ 252 Def/ 128 SpD

Only really meant for Tailwind support. But with Prankster, he does a marvelous job. His EVs allow his to take a hit whike setting up, then with Tailwind support, he is sure to U-Turn before they hit him unless they have priority. Toxic makes a fearsome pair with Prankster as well, cause if you wall the opponent, one Sub and a Toxic can turn the tables on them.

Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Sp. Def , 10 Carbos, 10 Calcium, 6 HP Up
Nature: Calm
Item: Leftovers

Mine mixes attacking and defending. I beat up a Snorlax with this pillow!

Cotton Guard: Fluff the pillow!
Leech Seed: recover with Leftovers
Giga Drain: recover and attack at same time, nasty with high defenses and recover HP total of 3 times a turn max in single battles
Hurricane: for grass, who resists Giga Drain and immune to Leech Seed

Whimsicott makes an awesome support in double battles.
Double battles set:
Calm Nature, 252 HP, 126 Def, 126 Sp. Def
Held item: Big root
Ability: Prankster

  • Substitute (for obvious reasons)
  • Leech Seed ( for additional damage, increased healing with Big root)
  • Light Screen (Helping your team survive Special attacks)
  • Charm (Forces switches)/ Toxic (More damage)/ Tailwing (For speed lacking teammates).

Single battles set:
Calm Nature, 252 HP, 126 Def, 126 Sp. Def
Held item: Big root/ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
- Substitute (As above)
- Leech Seed (As above)
- Taunt/Encore (Taunt ruins sweepers, So does Encore and now with Whimsi being part fairy type you can free switch into dragon types and ruin them with Encore, yeah this is pretty good)
- Toxic/Giga Drain

Whimsicott @ Lagging Tail
enter image description here
Ability: Prankster
EV's: 252 Hp / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Nature: Impish (+Def / -SpA)

  • Switcheroo
  • Encore
  • U-Turn/Endeavor
  • Taunt/Endeavor

Switcheroo can be used to permanently cripple mon's that don't have fling or switcheroo themselves. Encore is to come in and stop setup sweepers from setting up, and works well with taunt. Speaking of taunt, Whimsicott can completely shut down the likes of Sableye in particular, as it outspeeds and takes minimal damage from foul play thanks to the new fairy typing. If Taunt isn't your thing, or you already have a Pokemon with taunt, than endeavor is a cool option to do respectable damage when your health is low. U-Turn allows you to scout and provides momentum, however you can swap it out for endeavor if you prefer.

answered Feb 27, 2014 by Hairy Shed
wouldn't the lagging tail completely cancel out the effects of Prankster?
Lagging Tail just makes you move last in your priority bracket; Prankster still gives +1 priority even with the Lagging Tail.

This set is primarily to pick off weak and or just status opposing pokes, It does amazing if you have a slow sweeper so you may status to threats on the opposing team.

252 Hp/252 Speed
Nature- Bold
Substitute- To hide.

Stun Spore- To slow them down/annoy.

Leech seed- Gimme mah health

Moonblast- Finish em off

Most likely you're gonna wanna lead off with the stun spore, then go ahead and use the leech seed to get your health back, whimsicott is an excellent sweep breaker for sure, but not so great as a lead considering most people lead off with the biggest threats at the beginning of the battle, once those are gone he's clear for take off.
