Nearly every metagross in existence uses the moves Earthquake and meteor mash, and for good reason, they cover a wide range of types. As for the other 2 attacks, I would suggest these 2 if you want " a fast one.":

Earthquake-Powerful, covers fire weakness

Meteor Mash-STAB, powerful move, okay accuracy

Agility-gain speed boosts once after a while in the battle when your opponents pokemon have been weakened, a well played metagross will usually have more health at this point, leading for sweeping since your metagross is fast, it should be able to outspeed most with a boost from agility, the only thing to watch for then is trick room.

your last attack varies from what your team needs. Many people will add explosion as a last resort for when metagross' health is low, many can see this coming and usually switch in with a ghost type.
Use a move that will compliment your team, covering any types that metagross can't hit with the previous moves mentioned.

Just wait for this to be voted down because Metagross has several variations on his moveset, and everyone will have something different.
It won't be voted down. I would however suggest getting in Zen Headbutt for STAB and to complement Metagross's attack. You could also replace Agility with Grass Knot to deal with Ground types which are also usually very heavy.
well ill put calm mind not agility.Agilty you can change it with an item quick claw.Metagross doesn't have very good special attack (still very good xD) so by using calm mind you can get even higher attack but you can get also more special (if you need more special in your moveset). That's my opinion.
Quick Claw is banned in competitive. Agility is better than Calm Mind because he can sweep with it.
If you're using PO Rock Polish also works.

Calm Mind raises special attack and special defense. not attack

Earthquake(to cover fire Weakness)
Meteor Mash(strong STAB)
Psychic(strong STAB)
Maybe since this metagross wouldnt be very good against dark types, Hammer Arm or shadw ball. But then again since you want fast, agility would work along with a move that slows your opponet alot, tough I don't think metagross can learn any. Toxic might be a good choice too.

Overall, this is the strategy id use. Start with agility or toxic, whichever one you want, since Metagross has good defenses to survive a hit while he poisons or speeds up alot. Then, use the move hes best with, Meteor mash is strongest, but not very accurate. Maybe earthquake next, to weaken the opponet alot. Then, finish the opponet off with either psychic or meteor mash, since they might be a little stronger with STAB than earthquake. But if your sure it will work, earthquake is an option for a finisher, too.

Replace Psychic for Zen Headbutt, it's more powerful with his attack stat (unless you EV train SpAtk)
why shadow ball? not very effective on dark and it's special
Metagross is actually neutral against dark types due to his steel type to balance out psychic.

Item: Evolite
Ability: Clear-body
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Attack, 128 Defense, 128 S.Defense

Hone-claws
Meteor-mash
Earthquake
Ice-punch

Hone-claws boost the rather average Attack stat. Meteor-mash is STAB. Earthquake is coverage over other steel types and fire types. Ice-punch covers Ground types and dragon types.

Metang:

Nature: Impish
Item: Eviolite

Zen Headbutt/Earthquake- Simple type coverage. Takes care of potential switch ins like Rapidash, Simisear, Torkoal, etc. It also punishes the plethora of poison pokemon (alliteration ftw) if need be. Zen headbutt won't cover fire as well, but it does gain STAB for an extra little boost, so do what you will with it.

Toxic- Deal in residual damage to prevent pokemon from trying to outstall him. Luckily he cannot be poisoned himself, so just watch for will-o-wisp.

Stealth Rock-Pretty self explanatory move. This is also the main purpose of the set, so be wary of potential

Meteor Mash/Reflect/Light Screen-Have more means of attacking, or bulk up the team.

Metagross has to be one of the best pokemon ever created. Here's mi Metagross:

Adamant Nature
EV trained in Attack and Sp.def
Clearbody Ability
Nevermeltice Held Item: Powers up Ice Punch and helps against Fire weakness.

Meteor Mash: STAB,good power, decent accuracy and a chance to raise attack.
Earthquake: Good power, good accuracy, Deals with Fire weakness.
Ice Punch: Almost as strong as Earthquake due to Nevermeltice, deals with Ground weakness and type coverage.
Zen Headbutt:STAB, decent power, good accuracy and chance to make the foe flinch.

Alternatives:
Agility is also a good choice is you want to get Metagross fast.
Or tach Hammer Arm to a Brave Natured one to use in a Trick Room team.

Here's my recommended moveset:

1: Gyro Ball (STAB, plays off lack of speed)
2: Curse (enhances stats)
3: Trick Room (WHY HAS NOBODY ANSWERING THIS QUESTION THOUGHT OF THIS!! What is so good about Agility, anyway!)
4: Earthquake (Coverage)

CHOICE BAND METAGROSS!

Metagross
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Spdef
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Clear Body
Item: Choice Band

  • Bullet Punch

  • Meteor Mash/Iron Head

  • Zen Headbutt

  • Ice Punch

What with his attack topping off at 405 I find it incredibly hard to beleive that no one here has posted a Choice Band set for this monster. Bullet Punch is STAB, and great for revenge killing weakened opponents, while your choice of Meteor Mash or Iron Head is primary STAB. Zen Headbutt is secondary STAB, and Ice Punch is coverage.

Band ain't that good because he'll get revenge killed pretty easily.
Any slow pokemon with a band can be revenged
Right :P Which is your case.
Hence the EV investment in HP

Gen. V - Mixed Metagross

Metagross @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EV's: 252 HP / 188 Def. / 70 Atk
Bold Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Meteor Mash
- Psychic
- Calm Mind

Physically Defensive Metagross who quickly develops into a Mixed Wall after 2 Calm Minds or more. Bullet Punch takes down faster foes, while Meteor Mash is primary STAB with a chance to raise Attack. As stated before, Calm Mind raises his SDef to transform him into a Mixed Wall, and it's other effect of raising its SAtk. strengthens it's STAB Psychic Attack, hitting Pokemon weak in the SDef. area. This set is quite classic, using Dual STAB Attacks and boost that increase his bulk. Leftovers grant him SOME form of recovery, while the Bold Nature grants him monstrous Def.

I like how you call the Metagross "her" and "him" in the same sentence, where in reality Metagross doesn't even have a gender.
1.) Doesn't matter, what I call it is so trivial that the fact that you noticed it means you failed to grasp the point.

2.) You can call an inanimate object a him or her, like a vehicle. Big deal.
inanimate object :o metagross has feelings too you know
Obviously it did matter if you changed it :P
Why is this bold metagross running physical attacks?
