This isn't my moveset, it belongs to Ins4ne Gam3rs but still...

Tropius @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
Careful Nature
252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Leaf Blade

VERY stally set. Leech Seed, Toxic and then Sub. Leaf Blade for backup and Sitrus Berry/Harvest + Leech Seed gives you one hell of a recovery method. I stalled an entire OU team to death with just this Tropius! Hope this helps.

Tropius @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 28 HP / 252 SpA / 228 Spe
Timid Nature
- Solar Beam/Giga Drain
- Air Slash
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis / Growth

With Sun support.
Solar Beam is STAB and hits hard, Giga Drain can be used for healing though.
Air Slash is STAB as well and complements Solar Beam/Giga Drain nicely and hitting Grass types, and gives more coverage as well.
Hidden Power [Fire] gets the boost from Sun and has excellent coverage along with the other moves.
Synthesis is nice healing, while Growth can be used to boost Tropius' offenses.

Tropius @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Substitute
- Protect
- Leech Seed
- Solar Beam / Energy Ball / Giga Drain

This is a SubSeed set. Substitute works amazingly with Leech Seed as you can avoid lot of damage, while you stall with Leech Seed. Protect also works great, because you can scout attacks and you can prevent damage. The last slot is just if you need a sort of direct attack.
This set works best with Sun support.

Specially Defensive Curse Tank:

NANNERS! (Tropius) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Rest
- Leaf Blade
- Outrage

Curse boosts your somewhat decent Defense and mediocre Attack, while losing some of your already pitiful speed. Rest is a quick, drawback-free return to full health thanks to Lum Berry. Leaf Blade is obligatory STAB, and Outrage does massive damage, and the confusion will more than likely be remedied by the Lum Berry.

Tropius @ Lum Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Rest
- Bullet Seed
- Earthquake

  • Dragon Dance -- Stats
  • Rest -- Heal off damage, combo with Lum Berry + Harvest
  • Bullet Seed -- STAB. Breaks subs that could easily be set up on you while dancing
  • Earthquake -- Strong coverage, hits a lot of types that Bullet Seed doesn't hit well

EVs give decent enough bulk, while still letting Tropius have the chance to potentially sweep after 2 Dragon Dances, preferably 3. Harvest + Lum sweeper set is nice.

For Sun use only!

Tropius (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Solar Beam
- Roost
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Hyper Beam

This is one the epicest Pokemon I have ever made in my sun team. Use Solar Power to raise your SpA insanely high, and Leftovers cover the recoil damage from it. Dragon Pulse for coverage and Solar Beam for one turn STAB. Roost is for reliable healing and Hyper Beam is to demolish the opponent if they're being annoying. Hidden Power [Fire] hits Steel types. I don't want to brag, but this is definitely the best Pokemon in my sun team... and who could have thought that Tropius could achieve this? Well, you found out...it is a beast.

Walled by Steel types.

Consider HP Fire > Hyper Beam
Yeah, thats the MAJOR downfall of this set. But this set proper kicks butt anyways :U

Gen 7 ZU sets

Dragon Dance

Tropius @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

  • Leaf Blade
  • Earthquake
  • Aerial Ace / Dragon Hammer
  • Dragon Dance

Leaf Blade is STAB, Earthquake is coverage. Aerial Ace is STAB and hits Grass types, which resist Leaf Blade and Earthquake. Dragon Hammer hits Dragon types. Dragon Dance for set up

Special Attacker

Tropius @ Life Orb
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature

  • Energy Ball / Solar Beam
  • Air Slash
  • Hidden Power [Fire]
  • Dragon Pulse / Roost

Energy Ball is STAB and covers Rock types, Solar Beam does the same but is stronger. Only use Solar Beam if you have sun support like Torkoal or Ninetales. Air Slash is Flying STAB. Hidden Power Fire is coverage and is boosted by 50% in the sun. Dragon Pulse hits Dragon types, Roost to heal from Solar Power, Life Orb, and other things like Stealth Rock damage.

Staller

Tropius @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature

  • Substitute
  • Leech Seed
  • Toxic
  • Protect / Air Slash

Substitute blocks damage, Leech Seed drains HP, Toxic piles on the residual damage, Protect to stall, Air Slash does a little bit of damage.

OMG GUYS!! ITS AN ATTACKING TROPIUS!!!1

Gen 7 Doubles OU

Never use Tropius, the only reason you're going to use Tropius because It looks cool, It's very forgettable.. And It could be outclassed by an unevolved Pokemon too...

Tropius @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Solar Beam
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Dragon Pulse

  • Solar Beam (Doesn't need to charge when no Sunlight, also stab and a powerful move.)
  • Leaf Storm (Powerful, also stab and If your Sunlight runs out, use This as another Solar Beam.)
  • Hidden Power [Ice] (Type Coverage)
  • Dragon Pulse (Type Coverage Pt.2)
Modest and Max Speed because, C'mon, It's stats are SO Mediocre.. Except for It's HP that you're never going to use only If you're using a stall Tropius.

Allies (1 Ally)

Mega Charizard Y

Charizard

Pros:

  • Sets up Drought which Tropius Really needs for Solar Power.
  • Has an outstanding 159 Sp.ATK Stat.
  • Also has some nice stab moves.

Cons:

  • 4x Rock Weakness which means that You'll get killed from a Landorus Rock Slide and Some Landorus have Choice Scarf.
  • It's frail on the physical side too, so even If max HP Charizard, It would still get killed for It's physical Frailty.

Charizard's Role: Solar Sweeper/Solar Power Helper
Tropius: Scarf Sweeper

I don't know why people aren't using this move for Tropius ever since it got a buff...
(sun team)
Tropius @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 128 HP / 128 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute / Sunny day
- Growth
- Giga Drain
- Air Slash
If you are playing in a play through, I would switch Sub with sunny day. This set up is for gen 5 and up, after growth got a decent buff (doubling when in harsh sunlight), I had to try it out, and the results were actually surprising, Tropius could be a scary threat when left alone. and while sunny day is active, the speed for tropius doubles, making the banana dinosaur pretty fast if you invest your EV's into speed. One growth during sunlight and they have to do something about the fast, and tanky banana dino thats straight up used nasty plot for plants. I do say that perfect counters for this tropius set is a steel type, but because it's basically bait, I would recommend you to keep your real sweeper for a more valuable turn.
