Question

I was playing my HeartGold earlier and I was trying to get my Eevee to evolve into an Umbreon, so I gave it a Soothe Bell and started training it. It didn't evolve until level 42 unfortunately, but I taught it Return. And I was wondering:
If my Pokemon knows Return and the foe has the ability Intimidate and uses Growl, does that effect how much Return's damage is based on the happiness?

Its base power isn't affected, only your Pokemon's attack is affected by growl and intimidate.
However it isn't affected by Mirror Coat and Snatch.

Uh No. There are No moves that lower or effect happiness in any way. The only reason Return will be affected by those moves is because they Lower Attack and Return is a Physical move. The only ways to lower happiness (And consequently lower the power of Return) are to Faint it, use an Energy/Heal powder, use an Energy root, use a Revival herb. Also if you trade a Pokemon it's happiness gets reset to 70. Source

You did not specify you said yes to the question. SEP asked: If my Pokemon knows Return and the foe has the ability Intimidate and uses Growl, does that effect how much Return's damage is based on the happiness? The answer to that is NO. I specified and gave a source. Your answer made it sound as if it caused a BP drop. And mine is correct.

Look it up!! I answered that it's base power would not fall, but that it would only be affected by mirrot coat and snatch. I never mentioned anything about happiness or base power and everyone knows it. Just unhide my answer. It was right!

Ok lets start this again calmly. First of all obviously it is not affected by Mirror coat and Snatch they only effect Special moves and Status moves respectively. Second I said in my answer that No Growl and Intimidate do not effect the Base power of the move but they do cut your Attack stat until you switch out. Then I stated the ways that Happiness is lowered. Third: The Question was:

Fourth: Your original answer was:

Yes, return will be affected. Return is only not affected by magic coat and snatch

But it will NOT be affected in the sense that SEP was referring to in the Question so it was confusing and misleading because SEP said Based on Happiness, Growl and Intimidate do not effect happiness they effect the Attack stat. Which is why I hid it.
