Is the field Random on PO?

Iv'e seen many fields like a water field and more.

I think the field is just randomly chosen. And I'm assuming that it has nothing to do with the gameplay.
I've once seen a battle where the people didn't like the field so they left and started again. XD

Random. No effect whatsoever.
