Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Abomasnow?

4 votes

Or as mine is nicknamed: Obamasnow (not as an insult to Obama, just because he first part of the names sound alike.) Mine knows:

Earthquake: Because Earthquake is Earthquake. High power, high accuracy, double damage against Pokemon using Dig, used to deal with Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel types.

Blizzard: High power, STAB, chance to freeze, works great with Snow Warning because Hail makes it have 100% accuracy and have a 25% chance of breaking through Protect/Detect, used to deal with Flying types. Also deals with Grass types.

Substitute: Works well with Leech Seed.

Leech Seed: Works well with Substitute. Damages the foe while you gain HP. The foe is also getting damaged by Hail.

If you want my movesets for the Pokemon asked by ohioscyther, go to all of them but Chatot, where I would just be repeating another answer.
Glad to know I'm not the only one who named theirs obamasnow.
Can't wait to do the set for my favorite ice type, weavile.
I like Lapras and Glaceon better than Weavile, but Weavile is probably my third favorite, mostly because of Speed.
I love his speed and power. Glaceon and lapras are my favorites as well.
And here I thought I was crazy, naming mine Obamasnow...

Earthquake- covers fire, poison, rock, and steel weakness

ice beam/blizzard-STAB, flying weakness, or blizzard if you want to take advantage of his ability

hidden power [flying]/rock slide-covers other weaknesses, if you can't get HP, rock slide covers most that HP does. since you hate this, stick with substitute.

energy ball/leech seed-good grass STAB,or LS

Im answering these moveset questions with lots of things, because, as iam going on vacation soon, I need to get as many points as possible. Now, onto Abomasnow.
Physical: Start With Swords Dance(amazing attack now!) and then Avalanche, as he is slow. Next, the classic Earthquake. Then, Razor Leaf or wood hammer, depending on the one you like, for some STAB. Finally, the last slot can be whatever you want. Reflect/Light Screenare options, if you like, along with toxic and Iron Tail, and Return.

Special: Begin With Ingrain, hes going to need it. Next up, is Blizzard, for its ability. Giga Drain is good, up next, too, for even more healing and STAB. Finally, add in Earthquake, he cant be all special.

I can only vote one up. No matter how much I've always wanted to vote up two.
Whos getting best answer?
You will if you do two things. First, Iwould probably replace RAzor Leaf with Seed Bomb. And also, how about a SubSeed moveset?
You mean physical and special at once? Great, heres what I would get. Seed Bomb, Swords Dance, Earthquake, and Blizzard.
No, a SubSeed moveset is a popular moveset choice that makes use of Substute and Leech Seed a they work well together. It is one of my favorite combos for Obamasnow, mostly because of Hail.
Oh, then use substitute, leech seed, seed bomb, and blizzard.

The first of the Pokemon in need of a new moveset.

Wood Hammer: Very powerful STAB attack.

Blizzard: STAB, and 100% accuracy with 120 base power. Mixed offensive stats make this a great option.

Leech Seed: Part one of sub-seed. Woks well with Hail also damaging the foe. Also helps heal Wood Hammer recoil.

Substitute: The second part of the sub-seed strategy.

There are some other options, although Wood Hammer, Blizzard, and Leech Seed are very important for Abomasnow. First off is Focus Punch, although you'll need to get rid of one of your options, but you get type coverage and are usually behind a Sub. Earthquake is always a great option. Grass Knot can be used so as to not have recoil.

Hail Team Lead

Abomasnow # Leftovers
Nature: Lonely (^Atk -Def)
Ability: Snow Warning
+ 252 HP EVs / 132 Atk / 126 Sp Atk

Okay, lets get straight to the point, Abomasnow is a very fragile Pokemon and can be easily KO'ed with a 4x Fire weakness. Abomasnow will have to do its best to do whatever it can before getting KO'ed unless you want to save him for later, switch after doing what you can. Leech Seed is there to annoy others while gaining HP back from possible Wood Hammer damage. Blizzard is a must have, with itself activating Hail, to create a 100% accuracy STAB Blizzard in someones face! Ice Shard is useful for the last turn enemies, and who doesn't love priority? You can switch between Protect to stall one turn for Leftys to heal you, and one turn of Hail damage to your opponent, or Wood Hammer for a STAB attack that packs good power.

@Choice Scarf
252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Lonely Nature
-Ice Shard
-Wood Hammer
-Earthquake/Brick Break
Blizzard is your stab and though your offence is not focused on SAtk it will still do a decent amount with 180 base power after stab.
Ice Shard is priority and will help you avoid a Fire Blast from a Scarfed Salamance and will let you finish off frail pokemon such as Dugtrio and Alakazam.
Wood Hammer is powerfull stab.
Earthqukae is recomended over Brick break as it provides so much more coverage for Abomasnow at least.

I know a few will agree this is the best Abomasnow set out there at least for sweeping.

Special Tank Abomasnow

Ability: Snow Warning
Item: Leftovers/Big Root/Life Orb
Nature: Modest (+SpA, -Atk)
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Def, 4 SpD
- Blizzard- High power, STAB, and works great with Snow Warning
- Giga Drain/Energy Ball- your second STAB move, I prefer giga drain being that this moveset is a special tank but if you want a little more power there is always energy ball
- Leech Seed- lowers your opponents' HP while healing yours and works great with hail on the field
- HP Ground- coverage and takes out 4 of Abomasnow's weaknesses

Doubles and Triples
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Snow-warning
Nature: Brave
EVs: 128 Attack, 128 S.Attack, 252 Hp

Blizzard is a multi-Pokemon hit move and it is STAB and is thus very useful for Doubles and Triples. Rock-slide is coverage and can hit multiple Pokemon at once. Bulldoze hits all Pokemon on the field so be careful who is your partner, it is there instead of Earthquake in order to cripple Sweepers. Leech-seed is also crippling because even if Abomasnow is taken down the Pokemon that replaces him will be healed.

My Obamasnow (lol):

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning

Wood Hammer - STAB.
Blizzard - STAB.
Leech Seed / Ingrain - Healing. Goes well with leftovers and substitute.
Earthquake / Substitute - Earthquake covers LOTS of types. Substitute if you want to maximize your 'healing factor'.

Special Tank Abomasnow
enter image description here enter image description hereenter image description here
Abomasnow @ Leftovers / Abomasite
Trait : Snow Warning
EVs : 164 HP / 4 Def / 100 Sp.Atk / 244 Sp.Def /
Calm Nature
- Light Screen
- Substitute
- Blizzard
- Leech Seed

Light Screen is for walling a lot of special attackers, Substitute is obvious. Blizzard is with 100% Accuracy in the hail and a powerful and reliable move, while Leech Seed is for healing.

This is a moveset for Pokemon x and y. It takes advantage of its multiple weaknesses

Ability: snow warning
Item: weakness policy
Ev spread: 128 Atk, 128 Sp. Atk, 4 HP

-Leech seed
-Wood hammer

This moveset benefits both attack and special attack, leech seed for healing, blizzard has good power and accuracy with snow warning, wood hammer has power and stab and earthquake is coverage against its main weakness: fire types.
