Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Rhyperior?

Solid Rock is its ability obviously. This was the second Rhyperior because te first had LightningRod (that guy is still in my PC, nobody wants a LightningRod Rhyperior. Plus, he is there for memories. That guy has Rock Wrecker.) Rhyperior can either be defensive or Offensive. I choose for mine offensive because that is what I am. My good Rhyperior, the one who I sometimes use, knows:

Stone Edge: High power, good chance for a critical hit, STAB, type coverage. Used to deal with Ice types.

Earthquake: From here on, I'm not going to list reasons for this move.

Megahorn: High power, used to deal with Grass types.

Avalanche: Deals with Ground types and Grass types, high accuracy and usually high power, otherwise decent power. Works well because Rhyperior is SLOOOOOW. Also deals with the ever popular Dragon type.

Earthquake- nothing in Rhypherior's evolution chain should be without earthquake.

fire punch/Ice punch- covers several weaknesses, or good power.

Stone Edge-STAB.

Stealth rock/Swords Dance. -makes him a powerful sweeper regardless of which move you use

Why was this voted down?
Don't worry. I changed it. Which idiot voted down this great moveset?
yeah whoever did that is stupid i voted it up
This is a Good Moveset. I Like It
Why have curse, It is useless to Rhyperior because he's SO SLOW!
it isn't useless...Curse makes him slower. so it doesn't matter.

Rhyperior (M) @ Choice Band

Trait: Solid Rock

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Rock Wrecker
  • Outrage
  • Megahorn
  • Earthquake

I used the type coverage calculator, and saw that Rock Dragon Bug and Ground.
Gets 222 Normal Effectiveness, and 441 Super Effectiveness. 0 and 0 For Not Very and None.
140 Attack stat, maxed with Nature and Ev's, with a Choice band!
Rock Wrecker is pretty much a Guarenteed OHKO agaisn't just about anything that it hits Neutral, Outrage is for those pesty dragons ( Oh look at me! I have a Garchomp ! ) Megahorn offers high powered coverage, along with Earthquake for STAB and coverage.
This guy is basically used for killing anything he wants to ( That doesn't switch ) And regretting it the next turn, naturally, I love him. This is also the exact same set I use for 1v1 battles.

Rhyperior

  • Earthquake:STAB.
  • Megahorn:Covers the common psychic type as well as his Grass weakness.
  • Stone Edge:STAB; takes out staraptor on the switch in. He resists brave bird and double edge, and can take a close combat thanks to his massive defenses and his ability.
  • Stealth rock/Curse:Set up some rocks, or bulk up a bit.

Stone edge-STAB,High Power,Okay Accuracy./Mega Horn-Fantastic Power,High Accuracy,Deals with grass types.

Earthquake-Must I say why?

Fire Punch-Okay power,High Power,Deals with Grass,Steel and Ice types.

Avalanche-Okay Power/Fantastic Power if Rhyperior goes second(which is almost always),High Power,Deals with Grass and Ground types(if you have both Fire Punch and Avalanche go with stone edge instead of Mega Horn since Mega Horn only deals with grass types and you don't need 3 moves to deal with one weakness).

Hope this help's!

Rhyperior will be a useful Pokemon that will sweep if not pitted against a Pokemon with a type advantage. This set is to make use of its low speeds.

Rhyperior: Physical Sweeper
Ability: Solid Rock
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Brave (+Atk,-Spd)
Characteristic: +Attack
Moveset:
Rock Wrecker - STAB, high power
Earthquake - STAB, powerful, accurate
Hammer Arm - Coverage, powerful, lowers Speed to give it a better chance of getting hit first, can deal with Steel and Ice - types
Avalanche - Coverage, doubles damage when hit first (this Pokemon is really slow), used to deal with Grass and Ground - types

Also you could Megahorn instead of Avalanche to take out grass types
Megahorn is kind of inaccurate. Avalanche, if hit before attacking will deal damage equal to Megahorn.
