What is a good moveset for Porygon Z?

8 votes

Mine has the ability Adaptability. It knows:

Tri Attack: STAB incresed by ability, good power, high accuracy, good chance to burn, paralyze, or freeze.

Nasty Plot: Greatly increases Sp. Attack.

Dark Pulse: Good power, high accuracy, decent chance to cause flinching. Deals with Ghost types.

Ice Beam: Good power, high accuracy, chance to freeze, type coverage.

Oh man, Porygon and its family are my all-time favorite Pokemon, and I can proudly say, from raising two dozen Porygon and half a dozen Porygon-Z, that this moveset is perfect...Well, almost.

The only change I'd make is to switch Dark Pulse with Thunderbolt, for a Bolt-Beam combo. This way, you get coverage against Flying and Water-types. Ghost attacks can't hit you either, so you won't have a problem against most Ghost-types anyway.

Other than that, I definitely see nothing else wrong with this great moveset on a great Pokemon!

Thats a great moveset! Ill give you some other options, too, though.

Special Sweeper: Ice Beam(coverage), Thunderbolt(coverage), Tri Attack(STAB), Natsy Plot(Raises Sp. Attack). Other Options: Discharge(because it has a 30% chance of parylyzing), Psychic(coverage), Shadow Ball(coverage) Signal Beam(coverage).

Support killer

Substitute-Lets him take hits.

thunder wave-Cuts speed.

Pain split/Recover-Restores health. Works well with Substitute.

Tri Attack/Ice beam-depends on which one you want. STAB, or no ghost immunity.

This set isn't the best, but it's meant to catch people off guard.

Weather abuser (Rain)

Suggested ability: adaptability
Suggested ability: Life orb

Thunder-Perfect accuracy in rain.

hyper beam/Tri Attack-STAB; hyper beam normally isn't a good combination competitively, but when you think about Porygon-Z's High special attack, the boost from the life orb, STAB, and his ability, and it can do dangerous amounts of damage. Tri-attack is still there if you want reliability.

Hidden power[water]/[grass]-Deal with bulky waters like Swampert and Quagsire, or get the rain boost of hidden power.

Ice beam-Covers dragon types or bulky water types like Swampert and quagsire.

Oh, I never knew t-bolt gets boosted by rain. I thought it was only thunder.
AleX647
It doesn't
rain doesn't affect anything to t-bolt,
but it raises the thunder's accuracy to 100

Weather Abuser (sun)

Solarbeam-Gets one turn for quick kills.

Hyper Beam/Tri-Attack-STAB

Signal beam/psychic-Deals with grass type chlorophyll abusers, or cover the ones with poison typing as well.

hidden power [fire]-Gets pretty powerful with his ability and the weather.

Overpower killer.

Hyper Beam/Tri-Attack-Hyper beam is incredibly lethal on Him thanks to STAB, his high special attack, and his ability. It's even capable of OHKOing a Blissey. Tri Attack is a bit more reliable for STAB.

Nasty plot/Charge beam-Boosts up special attack. If you feel lucky, you could run charge beam for damage in addition.

Ice beam-Cover Dragon types.

Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt/signal beam/psychock/thunder wave/psychic-Coverage moves.

description
Porygon-Z @ Life Orb

Trait: Adaptability

EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)

  • Nasty Plot
  • Tri Attack
  • Dark Pulse
  • Hidden Power Fighting

Nasty Plot gives SpA a nice boost, just find the right time to use it.
Tri Attack is the most Powerful move on the set, it's boosted by STAB and Adaptability giving it 160 power.
In other words, Tri Attack gets the same boost as a non-STAB Super Effective move.
Dark Pulse is there to take care of Ghost types who wall the other moves.
Hidden Power Fighting is Porygon-Z's best bet against Steel types who resists the other moves.
If you want a more speedy approach, Agility is an option over Nasty Plot to give it more speed for sweeping.
If you opt for Agility, make sure to change the nature to Modest to give Porygon-Z more power.

This works well in double battle pared with electrivire
Tri attack - stab
Blizzard - high power does damage to both opponents
Discharge - like blizzard just effects your partner I like to pair it with electrive raising its speed making electro ball more powerful
Nasty plot - obvious move increases spatk a lot
Trait : download
Mild
252spatk 252speed 4hp
Leftovers
