Bicycles are for riding and travelling faster. Sure they are but I want to know something USEFUL about bicycles that helps us go to hidden places in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

Muddy slopes
Muddy slopes can only be passed with a Mach Bike or, in Generation IV, the bicycle shifted into fourth gear. If a player attempts to walk up or uses a slow bike/ bike gear to ride up the slope, they will slide back down before they reach the top. They will also slide down if they stop on the slope before reaching the top. These are found in both Generation III and IV.
Rails and logs
This obstacle is known as a rail in Generation III and a fallen log in Generation IV. While the function is largely the same, there are slight differences between generations. In Generation III, only the Acro Bike can be used to get across, as riders need to use the Bike's jumping function to go from rail to rail. In Generation IV, there's no trick to riding on them, so both gears of the bicycle can travel on the rails. In Generation III, they are mainly found on Route 119. There are fallen logs on Routes 210, 212, and 228 in Generation IV.

In Diamond and Pearl you will see mudslide looking things that lead uphill, however you may notice that if you try to walk or run up this mudslide you will slide back down. The only way to traverse these mudslides is by riding the bicycle (in high gear) up them.

Also you can ride across thin planks over some areas. Otherwise, the bike just makes the player move faster.

haching eggs.

you can hatch eggs without a bike.
What the-?!
Oh, it makes hatching eggs "quicker" in time-span. So instead of taking 4 minutes, it takes 3 minutes.
