Effect

Vital Spirit prevents the pokemon from falling asleep. This means that it also prevents the use of Rest.

If a pokemon with Vital Spirit is leading the party pokemon, wild pokemon are 50% more likely to be higher level.

Generation III	Prevents sleep.

Generation V	Prevents the Pokémon from falling asleep.
