What is a good moveset for Beedrill?

My Beedrill is level 50. It knows: Twineedle, Poison Jab, Giga Drain, Payback.

It is a Very Good moveset for Beedrill, as it covers both of it's STAB and has a balance of a healing move. the only recommendation I have would be to replace twineedle with either X-Scissor (EV's in Atk) or U-Turn (It can be used for scouting while dealing a decent amount of damage)

Mega moveset

enter image description here----------------------->enter image description here
Beedrill @ Beedrillite
Adamant Nature
252 Atk/252 Spd/4 Hp
Ability: Swarm ---> Adaptability
-Fell Stinger
-Poison Jab
-Pursuit/Knock Off
-Drill Run/Roost/Knock Off/Protect

Lemme explain.
First off Beedrill has good enough speed in Mega form (base 145) allowing it to run Adamant. Fell Stinger with Adaptability is ok and with 150 base attack while battling another Pokemon weak to bug wither it down and KO with Fell Stinger giving you +2 attack and counters Psychic types and most have low physical defence so this is a good choice. Pursuit can kill the opponent before they switch very rarely. Knock Off gets rid of those pesky Leftovers. Roost has no point although if the opportunity is given at the right time you can heal. Drill Run covers Rock types and Fire types. Protect because on the first turn of Mega evolving speed does not come into effect so its likely to get outsped by something. Poison Jab has a nice 30% chance of poisoning the target and boosted to 160 BP by adaptability.

Hope this set brings victory to many! :D

Poison Jab-STAB.

Tailwind-Gives him and his teammates a bit of a speed boost.

X-Scissor/U-turn-STAB; deals with psychic weakness

Brick Break-Cover rock weakness,

It's sad that he has access to a few things like toxic spikes, agility, Swords dance, and roost, but still can't use them very effectively.

Gen V

Beedrill (M) @ Focus Sash

Trait: Swarm

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Acrobatics
  • Agility
  • X-Scissor
  • Poison Jab

Okay, first thing you do is use Agility. Your opponent is likely going to activate your Focus Sash. You now have a pretty powerful sweeper. X-Scissor will do good damage thanks to STAB and Swarm, as will Acrobatics thanks to a lack of an item once Focus Sash has been used. Poison Jab provides STAB also.

Beedrill (M) @ Focus Sash

Role: Lead

Trait: Swarm

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Toxic Spikes
  • U-turn
  • Tailwind
  • Poison Jab

Faster than the more bulkish leads, although not faster than most sweepers.

His main role is to set up the ever so annoying toxic spikes.

And if he is some how still alive after 2 Toxic Spikes set up Tailwind, and then U-turn his butt out of there.

Poison Jab added for a little bit of Extra STAB in there.

Beedrill (F) @ Lum Berry

Ability: Swarm

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Swords Dance
  • Sludge Bomb - Physical
  • Twineedle - Physical
  • Brick Break - Physical

Sweeper, Nough said.

Swords Dance increases Attack, and then Sludge Bomb and Twineedle give STAB and Brick Break gives Coverage.

sludge bomb is special :P
Nope, this is Gen III
Wtf? sludge bomb is a mental/special attack not physical.
In gen III poison type moves were physical

Double/Triple Battle

Beedrill (M) @ Focus Sash

Trait: Swarm
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Acrobatics
- Endeavor/Poison Jab
- U-turn
- Tailwind

I'm surprised that I have taken a liking to Beedrill, Single and Multi. This set is riskier in Multi Battle, as Focus Sash can easily be taken down if two oppponents choose to attack you. However, Beedrill's weakness makes it unlikely that they'll do so, being so unafraid of it. That is their downfall. You set up Tailwind, and now you have high Speed, and a decent attack boosted by Swarm and a nice Acrobatics boost. Acrobatics works great, being coverage with high power and being able to hit any foe in a Triple Battle. Endeavor can be used quite well, lowering a bulky foe down to 1 HP to be taken down by another teammate. Or you can use Poison Jab for STAB. U-Turn gets you a nice powerful hit thanks to STAB and Swarm. You get your weak Beedrill out of there, doing a nice chunk of damage in the process. This set has one advantage from being in a multi-battle that it wouldn't have in a single battle, and that is that priority is not as big a problem, as you can team Beedrill up with a Quick Guard user.

Doubles / Triples

Beedrill (M) @ Liechi Berry
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- X-Scissor
- Substitute
- Acrobatics
- Poison Jab

If you have a team mate with Tailwind, that's useful.
Sub down to your Liechi Berry then hit what you can with Acrobatics and dual STAB.

What's that? Make a gimmicky set? Okay! :D

Image is slightly inappropriate, but very necessary.
Because this thing screws. ( If you're lucky.. )

Beedrillin you! @ Razor Claw ( If playing friends who won't know.. ) / Life Orb
Ability: Sniper
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 HP / 252 ATK / SPD

Focus Energy - Enter the gimmick. Increase your crit rate for Sniper

Twineedle -You get to attack twice meaning you get 2 chances for a crit.

Poison Jab - STAB and a more reliable fall back if you need one.

Brick Break - Cover up your age. ( Coverage )

OK Beedrill is know as a tragic case of a bug sweeper who never really tried, which is sad since I quite like him on the field of NU. I will go through some things to show off Beedrill in anyway I can. hope you enjoy.

Summary; a classic NU bug sweeper that has been around for ages....and still fails to do much, its really not fit for major battles. Although it seems to become ever so slightly more effective it is still shadowed by most of the NU tier....and most Pokemon otherwise. Its not all bad news, but it still shoudn't be used without a genuine purpose

Pros: although its stats are pretty poor, its attack power isn't too bad and its movepool is actually rather decent.

Cons: poor typing, low stats, loads of counters,KO'ed in a heartbeat, I could go on and on. but I'm not going to, because I'm supposed to be trying to help beedrills chances....that's going well...

I created a few movesets to maximize its chances and give you some choice in the matter.

Beedrill @ Life Orb
Trait: Sniper
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Drill Run
- Poison Jab
- X-Scissor/U-turn
- Brick Break/Endeavour

This set is basically a baton pass receiver. Ninjask remains in NU, so if you can this set is made to take advantage of him. Drill run makes sure it's not completely defenceless against fire types. And a mix of other moves will provide a good battle coverage. So it could be worse.

Beedrill @ Focus Sash
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 150 Spd / 150 Atk / 208 HP
Adamant Nature
- Agility/Swords Dance
- Poison Jab/Toxic Spikes/Toxic
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break/Drill Run

OK so this takes advantage of the fact that it can no longer be KOed instantly. It's your choice out of agility or swords dance. its EV's look odd but it does help with it trying to last a while.

Beedrill @ Black Sludge
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 150 Spd / 70 Atk / 208 HP / 80 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Toxic Spikes/Toxic
- U-turn/Protect
- Endeavor/Drill run
- Brick Break

This may look odd, but Beedrill is very opportunistic is the right situations. Toxic spikes will make your opponent less willing to switch into something more dangerous, while Toxic+black sludge+Protect is pretty good too.The rest is just too make sure its not countered or walled to easily.

Right that's it. My analysis on Beedrill is complete. I hope this may of helped in deciding if Beerill is worth it. Hope you like!

Not worth using in any situations.
What about in a mono-Beedrill battle?
;_; Seriously?
Now your just being mean...if you don't like it that's your opinion. I don't do this for points, I do it to try to be helpful. if you don't think it is that's your problem, not mine. Criticism is fine, just tell me what's wrong instead of complaining OK? I know I'm not that good at but that's why I'm doing them, so I don't dissapoint in the future. Sorry for the long comment
The first set is baws :D
Anywayz, not a fan of Beedrill but...Beedrill FTW :D
I wasn't talking about your sets, I was talking about Beedrill, dammit. Learn how to read. Also, it's outclassed by any Pokemon in NU, which means that it's not worth using.

CritDrill anyone?

Beedrill @ Scope Lens
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Focus Energy
- Knock Off
- X-Scissor
- Poison Jab / Drill Run

Beedrill is the only other Pokemon that can run a full time critical hit set with Sniper (outside of Kingdra). After one Focus Energy, this bug crits every single time, which is a necessary boost for it.
X-Scissor is for reliable STAB, and Knock Off because it's Knock Off.
The choice between Poison Jab and Drill run depends on team perspective. If you want a good coverage in general, Drill Run is the better move. If you want secondary STAB and you want those fairies eliminated, you go for Poison Jab.

This Mega set is recommended to set up only under Special Attackers.

Now lets get started! :D
Beedrill @ Beedrillite
EVs: 156 Atk/152 Sp.def/200 Spd
Nature: Jolly/Careful
Ability: Swarm ---> Adaptability
-Swords Dance
-Poison Jab
-Knock Off
Alright lemme explain.
Who says Mega Beedrill can't tank for ****? Well, they're wrong.
This set allows it to tank a little bit if the right oppurtunity is given to it such as being sent out against a Special Arcanine set and such. This may not give optimul coverage, but hey, when you have a +2 attack Beedril who cares about anything in your way! Right? :D
Anyways, back on topic.
Poison Jab is good STAB.
X-Scissor is more standard STAB.
Swords Dance is the whole point of this set.
Knock off is another move in there.
Here's a damage calc:

0 SpA Heatran Lava Plume vs. 0 HP / 156 SpD Beedrill: 218-258 (80.4 - 95.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Hope this set brings victory to many! :D

Mega Beedrill

Ability: Swarm>Adaptability
EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
Item: Beedrillite

Protect should be used first time to safely activate the Mega evolution as the speed doesn't kick in first turn.
U-turn is a great STAB move boosted by Adaptability and is useful for scouting and keeping momentum.
Poison Jab is another STAB moved also boosted by Adaptability. Destroys any Fairy types apart from those immune or neutrally hit by it.
Drill Run is an option to hit Steel, Rock, Fire and Electric types hard. Knock Off is the other option that hurts Ghost types which otherwise wall this set hard and also removes items.

Adamant for power, Jolly to outspeed.
