What is a good moveset for Hitmonlee?

3 votes

My brother just traded me a Hitmonlee. It knows:

Mega Kick: High Power

Blaze Kick: Makes use of Hitmonlee's high Attack

Hi Jump Kick: Makes use of Hitmonlee's ability, high power, STAB

Jump Kick: Same as Hi jump Kick for ability, STAB

My brother is trading away some of his Pokemon to make room in his PC. He's catching Pokemon to get Held Items.

This is a very good moveset but jumpkick should be stone edge

instead for type coverage.

Use:
High Jump Kick (High Power, boost from Reckless and STAB)
Blaze Kick (high power,coverage)
Sucker Punch (type coverage, priority, makes up for hitmonlee's low speed and makes use of it's high attack)
Stone Edge (type coverage)

also you can switch High Jump Kick for Close Combat or Brick Break if you don't want recoil moves.

Gen V

Hitmonlee (M) @ Normal Gem

Trait: Unburden

EVs: 252 Atk / 172 SDef / 84 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Fake Out
  • Close Combat
  • Stone Edge
  • Bullet Punch

A problem with Hitmonlee has always been low Speed. Unburden fixes that problem. You use Fake Out, which activates Normal Gem and will do some nice free damage. Now you've got Speed in the 400 range. Close Combat is more reliable than Hi Jump Kick, and your ability is Unburden, not Reckless. Stone Edge provides type coverage. No matter how fast you are, there is still a chance that you can be outsped. So Bullet Punch provides priority. Sucker Punch isn't used because it isn't able to be used along with Unburden. Your EVs give you enough Speed to outspeed most foes after Unburden. Attack is maxed out, and some bulk on the special side is also given.

ScrewyouHax! (Hitmonlee) (M) @ Life Orb

description

Role: Anti-Hax Switch in Killer

Trait: Limber

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Stone Edge
  • Focus Punch
  • Bullet Punch
  • Earthquake

This set takes alot of predicting to use.

The point being, Para-hax has gotten to be a real pain lately, so here's how you solve it!

Limber lets you switch in on Paralyzation, without getting paralyzed, if you predict the switch, you get a nasty STAB Focus Punch blow in! Which can beast your opponent up, but some opponents like togekiss, need to be taken down with Stone Edge.
And others with Earthquake.

Close Combat: An extremely powerful attack.

Stone Edge: Powerful attack that can deal with multiple foes.

Sucker Punch: Powerful priority attack.

Earthquake: Despite the type coverage being mostly taken by Close Combat, it can be used to deal with Poison type foes.

Hitmonlee

Suggested ability: Unburden;
Suggested item: normal gem

  • Earthquake/Sucker punch/pursuit -Type Coverage, or cover ghost and psychic types that might give you trouble.
  • Close Combat:-STAB. Less risky than Hi jump kick. If the opponent
switches into a ghost type, you'll
lose about half your health with HJK.
  • Stone Edge: Covers flying weakness.
  • Fake Out: Pretty simple. Get a bit of damage on the opponent while boosting speed a bit with unburden.

As I mentioned in my moveset explanation, Sucker Punch is not able to be used along with Unburden.

Heres mine
Abillity: reckless -stats:attack high
Equipped:sharp claw
Moves:
high jump kick
blaze kick
fake out
stone edge

use fake out to get a free hit at the start of a battle. With recklessness it powers up high jump kick also with sharp claw it has a chance to get a critical hit. Stone edge also has a high chance for critical hits and sharp claw plus that and u will get critical 50% of the time. i put blaze kick cuz i like fire.
