I use the Fling-Crobatics style too, (see my post), but mine is much more defensive.
Is its ability Poison Heal?
@BlazingStaraptor definitely, otherwise toxic orb wouldn't be there
Fling-Acrobatics may sound cool, but there's no real reason to use it over Swords Dance-Acrobatics, it does the same power and you are still left with +2 attack. The only reason I can see why you would use fling is to get that one-off badly poison, but then why not just use the slot for Toxic which isn't one-use? (pre-Gen 8). In that case, Aerial Ace is a better STAB flying option with 60BP.

Strategy: Give him Yache Berry if you are afraid of Ice-tyoe attacks. Salac berry for passing and a bit speed. In the first turn use substitude if you have pick it up or directly sword dance if you chosen fire fang for coverage. After you boosted with S-Dance pass it. I generally add Gliscor to my sandstorm team and I pass the atk to Garchomp. It makes it a real beast!

Dis guy has the best defense in UU, with Eviolite reaching the almighty 508! Now that's tough to get by. His SpD is also remarkable but not as good as his Defense >:D

  • Ice Fang: Helps a lot facing other Gliscors.
  • Earthquake: No need to be explained.
  • Protect: Block Pokemon using Knock Off/Trick/Switcheroo/ etc. and stall out some damage.
  • Fling: Poison something and get some extra damage as well as 2x damage to psychic types.

This guy is a beast. Flying gem boosts acrobatics to a ridiculous power level for one use. Earthquake is secondary stab to deal with rock and steel types who resist acrobatics. Swords dance is an obvious boosting move. Roost makes up for the lack of poison heal recovery, while substitute facilitates set up. Fire fang and ice fang can also go on here for coverage

I'm gonna pin down here one of the most common and most appreciated Gliscor sets i.e the SubStall set.

Impish Nature

The motto of this set is simple. Protect to buy a turn to activate your Toxic Orb, poison your opponent if necessary, set up your Substitute and spam Earthquake to stall out your opponent.
This set is very annoying to bring down if you don't have the right Pokemon and can cripple several walls while walling them with relative ease. It becomes immune to status after Toxic Orb, and heals a good amount of damage every turn through Poison Heal. This is crucial as its in concord with Toxic stall, meaning you can stall easily while wearing down your opponent and simultaneously healing at a ridiculously fast rate.

This set's flaw though, is that it can't touch the likes of Pokemon that are immune to poisoning and Earthquake, like Skarmory, opposing Gliscors and Air Balloon steel types.

Basically, on the first turn I would use protect so the toxic orb will poison Gliscor. Then I would use Substitute. Since Substitute looses 1/4 of your HP and Poison Heal heals 1/8 of your HP you'll regain you're starting health back if you use protect after substitute.
Earthquake/Stone Edge is your choice if you want STAB of want to hit flying types.
Toxic is to help stall and knock off is to hit flying types if you chose earthquake.

Ability: Immunity

Careful Nature
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock / Rest / U-turn / Roost
- Protect

The evil that is a Toxic staller. Toxic is for stalling as I said before. Stealth-rock is good for a lead but you can only have it if you use Sand-veil, Rest or Roost is if you really want a healing move but it is a bit risky while Roost is great for healing, U-turn can help you escape from Pokemon you can't stall. Protect is EVIL just EVIL, there are few things more annoying than the Toxic+Protect combo. Earthquake is for STAB and removes Steel types and Poison Types. This guy is VERY bulky with the Eviolite: 272 HP, 375 SpD, and a HUGE 462 Defense stat.

In the games, there's a Girl ( I believe it was a girl ) Who can tell you if you've maxed your ev's out or not, but if you've filled out only 508 ( Even though you've gotten all of your stats worth ) she won't confirm that you've maxed out your EV's.
Why not Roost?
I do have Roost as an option, it would be a definite one but it can not be there with Immunity
Wouldn't the eviolite not work given that this is an evolved pokemon
The image was originally supposed to be of Gligar, but the image is now broken. I've changed it so that it says in the answer that the Pokemon is Gligar and not Gliscor.

Power Trick Gliscor, fairly uncommon. Power trick gives it a nice 125 base attack, and a respectable base 95 defense, keeping its bulkiness. Earthquake is STAB, and stone edge is coverage. Swords Dance / Rock Polish is for boosting, or Facade for neutral coverage.

You really want another coverage move such as Knock Off or Aqua Tail in the final slot, with the great coverage it has you want to make use of it if going offensive. Love the concept BTW.

How too use
I'm not extremely good at explaining this kind of stuff but to keep it straight forward this set uses the old Toxic => Protect => healing move combo adding in some great natural healing every turn thanks to Poison Heal and the very annoying Knock Off which I wouldn't honestly replace by anything especially not Earthquake since this set doesn't use Swords Dance and even then you have other Pokemon who can do better usage of Earthquake you could replace Protect or even Roost with Taunt but I will cover that a bit later.

Extra annoying set great to stall and wall anything with physical damage even the hard hitting Pokemon of the OU tier.
This set is a good match-up against the like of Tyranitar which once you Knock Off his Choice Scarf, even a Jolly Nature Tyranitar gets outspeeded and is ready to be stalled. Same goes for Mega Lopunny who doesn't really carry anything to hit Gliscor especially hard because of his typing.

Mega Charizard - X could get a surprisingly hard time going through this Gliscor and breloom is pretty much checked by it unless he is Jolly to outspeed it but quite honestly most people go Adamant breloom and heavily rely on mach punch for the priority. if Altaria-Mega is going to use a Physical attacker he won't be able to get through Gliscor and Garchomp can't really take much of a bite out of Gliscor's HP every turn.

Conkeldurr probably can still hurt this Gliscor a good bit. I would presume because of how hard he can hit but I didn't get to use this set against Conkeldurr yet so I can't say for sure. Those are just a few of the high physical sweepers of this meta who can get seriously stalled by Gliscor if you play it right.

Second Option
As I said earlier you can replace Protect or Roost by Taunt if you wish but this changes everything since now you are gonna turn this Gliscor into a wallbreaker / stallbreaker and a different set of EVs can get more useful there probably going something like this:
EVs: 244 HP / 192 SpD / 72 Spe
Careful Nature
Some people seem to be liking this build but honestly I didn't try it much and from what I got results where only half decent since a lot of the Stallers / Walls in OU can get pass the little 257 SpD of Gliscor and with the fairy types using Magic Guard and Magic Bounce your better just taking away Knock Off and putting in Earthquake even though you won't hurt them much anyway especially with toxic becoming useless against them.

Taking Roost off and adding Taunt instead while keeping the first set wasn't half bad from what I experienced since predicting a switch in from a sweeper trying to get a free set up of Swords dance or Dragon Dance would allow me to Taunt them, making them unable to set up for a few turns leaving me on the other hand, able to safely enough toxic them and Knock Off their items before they could do much damage.

However, on the long term Gliscor's longevity gets pretty lowered and comes down to basically being able to take down 1 Pokemon and afflicting Toxic or Knocking Off the item of another Pokemon before falling this however played a nice roll in some of my matches and was far from useless if predicted well and kept for the later game

FINAL VERDICT

Gliscor definitely has its place in the OU tier being a pretty strong Physical stall / wall despite being seriously endangered when facing a Special attacker or a Weavile / Kyurem Black . Starmie is also a really bad match up for him and his usefulness kinda fall sort if you end up facing a Steel-Type like Mega Metagross and Mega Scizor to name only those two. If you are looking for a tough physical stallGgliscor is definetly worth looking at in my opinion and can be pretty useful if used properly.

Gen 7 UU


Gligar @ Eviolite
Ability: Immunity
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Defog
- U-turn / Knock Off

I decided to make this since Gen 7 UU is on the RoA spotlight this month. Earthquake is STAB. Roost is reliable recovery. Defog removes hazards. U-turn is for pivoting on a predicted switch, Knock Off is for removing items.

Partners

Quagsire and Blissey are great partners because Gligar fits on stall very well and stall is extremely good in the tier. Blissey checks Pokemon such as Hydreigon while Gligar checks Terrakion. Stall's passivity makes Quagsire good at handling boosters.

Facade would be a good counter having the Toxic Orb and poison to you wouldn't be a big deal with the HA poison heal having the Pokemon to be heal when it's poisoned and poison wouldn't hurt you at all and will boost the power of facade and will be better if you can use swords dance because there is a roost which you can also heal when you used swords dance a knock off can be good having it to put the opponent's/target's held item like for example mega stones, z crystals preventing you for them to use it and would be a good counter for ghost types than having facade which is normal type and wouldn't effect ghost type at all but only effects ghost type if foresight is used or activated. Facade with 2 Swords dance and roost to heal and toxic Orb to boost facade's power and heal the Pokémon because of the poison by the toxic heal ability can sweep a whole entire team

So this is a simple sweeper build sword dance for crazy damage do atleast 3 sword dance for guarenteed kill. Roost is there for hp if your hp goes down to low from the toxic orb. Facade combo with toxic orb plus with sword dance guarenteed kill unless Pokemon is rock, fighting, or ghosst facade covers flying, water etc. Earthquake to cover most of the type.

National Dex Monotype Utility (Flying)

Gliscor's Ground/Flying typing, Ability Poison Heal, and 75/125/75 bulk let's it be a utility Pokemon that Flying teams appreciate. Earthquake is used for Gliscor's STAB move that chips opposing Pokemon who don't resist it. Knock Off allows you to cripple Pokemon such as Porygon2, Ferrothorn, and Celesteela by removing their crucial items. Taunt can be used so Gliscor can stallbreak Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Toxapex. Defog is used to clear the entry hazards that hazard setters such as Ferrothorn and Jirachi have set. Knock Off can be used in the third slot so you can have both Knock Off and Taunt on this set. Roost provides Gliscor with some HP recovery.

244 HP and 20 Defense EVs is used so Gliscor can live a Choice Band boosted Victini when sun isn't up. 68 Special Defense EVs in addition to the HP EVs allow Gliscor to live a Hidden Power Ice from Expert Belt Tapu Koko. 176 Speed EVs with a Jolly Nature allows Gliscor to outspeed Nidoking. The Ability is Poison Heal so you can have some HP recovery from poison. Toxic Orb is used to poison Gliscor so it can utilize Poison Heal.

Gen 9 NU Pivot

Ability: Immunity

Since DLC 1 is out, Gligar can be used in NU since it is an NFE Pokemon at the time this set was posted. Gligar has a nice movepool, but unfortunately lost Roost. Spikes allows Gligar to lay down a hazard that chips opposing Pokemon. Earthquake is a nice STAB move that lets Gligar hit Pokemon such as Copperajah, and Coalossal, Salazzle. Knock Off allows Gligar to make progress vs opposing Pokemon by removing their item. U-turn allows Gligar to switch out and bring in a teammate. Tera Water allows Gligar to remove its Ice and Water weaknesses. Immunity is used to prevent Gligar from being poisoned. If you decide to use a Tera Type like Poison or Steel, then you can get away with using Hyper Cutter for the Ability to be immune to Intimidate. Eviolite is used since Gligar is an NFE Pokemon.

248 EVs are used for bulk. The amount of Speed EVs Gligar can vary depending on what speed benchmark you want Gligar to hit. As long as you have at least 240 Speed on Gligar, the amount of Speed EVs is customizable. The EV spread I have uses 216 Speed EVs to put Gligar at 286 Speed, allowing it to outspeed Timid Goodra and other base 80 Pokemon such as Mesprit and Passimian, which is useful should Gligar remove their items. The rest of the EVs are used in Special Defense for a little bit of Special bulk.

Some other EV spread options:

248 HP / 208 SpD / 52 Spe (Jolly): Hits 240 Speed
248 HP / 124 SpD / 136 Spe (Jolly): Outspeeds max speed +speed nature Pokemon such as Decidueye and Hoopa

A physically defensive set Gligar can use in Gen 9 NU. Spikes lets Gligar setup a hazard that pressures grounded Pokemon that aren't wearing Heavy-Duty Boots, which helps put them into range of the attacks of Gligar's teammates. Toxic lets Gligar put opposing Pokemon on a timer in order to cripple them. Earthquake is used as Gligar's Ground STAB that lets it threaten Pokemon such as Copperajah, Qwilfish, Magneton, Salazzle, and Coalossal. While Acrobatics with Gligar holding the Eviolite may seem counterproductive, Acrobatics is still viable on this set. In fact, Eviolite Gligar with Acrobatics was used in NU SCL. With DLC being out, Knock Off is a lot more common in NU. That means Gligar can serve as a Knock Off absorber, which lets it have a powerful Flying STAB. For those wondering, "why not use Dual Wingbeat?", it's because Acrobatics without the Eviolite is stronger than Dual Wingbeat. Knock Off can be used over Acrobatics if you prefer to remove items from opposing Pokemon. Tera Water is used to give Gligar a nice defensive typing. Immunity is used to prevent Gligar from being poisoned.

This is the part where the guy in the movie says the name of the movie, because it's part 2/6 of posting my Hyper Offence Manascor team, and it's the poisonous *** known as Gliscor.

Now, I'll explain everything. The name is there because I'm the most mature person on the planet, and Poison Heal and Toxic Orb because obviously it has Poison Heal and Toxic Orb. I chose Tera Water to punish Ice and Water types, and Impish because Gliscor really struggles in the Defense department. I chose Protect so it can stall for more healing and get a free poison on a switch in from a KO (which happens a lot because I lead Hatterene). Toxic for Great Tusk and other valuable sweepers like Zamazenta-H and Enamorus, and Earthquake so it doesn't implode when it gets Taunted.

Top Teammate
Once again, it's Manaphy. Gliscor walls everything Manaphy struggles with, and Manaphy just kills everything Gliscor struggles with. There's a reason this team name sounds like a ship, and these two can support each other through the whole match if need be.

Summary
It's a Gliscor set. What more could you ask for? Their's nothing this guy can't do, except maybe Roost. Or Rock Polish. Roost hurts more though.

A good moveset for Gliscor that I used in 5th generation:

Gliscor @ Life Orb

Hability: Sand Veil

Careful Nature

EVs: 256 SpA / 104 SpD / 74 Atk / 74 Spe

  • Sandstorm
  • X Scissor
  • Earthquake
  • Acrobatics

*Sandstorm can be used in conjunction with the Sand Veil ability, which increases evasiveness by 20%, And on top of that, it takes away 1/16 of the opponent's HP every turn. While Fury cutter can deal massive damage if you're lucky, as well as helping with Dark, Psychic and Grass type Pokémon. Earthquake can be used in different situations, without any specific one. While Acrobatics, with a base power of 55, if used on a Pokémon that is not holding an item, the damage will be doubled to 110.*

Your EVs are out of whack, why SpA EVs, and that’s not how Acrobatics works. It deals double damage of the user is not holding an item.

Gliscor OU @Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison heal
Tera type: Steel
EVs: 252 Def, 252 Spe, 4 Atk OR depending on your preference and counters swap speed and attack.
Accordingly, Jolly nature for speed or Adamant nature for attack.
- Fling
- Toxic spikes/ Earthquake (depending on which nature and EVs set you decided on)
- Protect
- Substitute
Fling: Badly poisons the opponent
Toxic Spikes/ Earthquake: Set up hazards for later in the game or deal massive damage with STAB Earthquake for Steel-types that are immune to poison.
Protect: Gives you a chance to feel out your opponent, also stall to heal with Poison Heal
Substitue: Allows you to block attacks while healing

This set isn't one I've ever seen anybody use, but its very powerful and makes Gliscor very annoying in OU. It only takes one turn to poison the opponent, then you can tank a hit with Gliscor's amazing defenses or tera into steel if you run into any ice-type moves or Pokemon. From there, protect works great to block many attacks and heal off a little bit of damage, and substitute, for only a fourth of your HP, allows you to take no damage and heal up if you are low on HP, followed by protect for extra stalling. And then, if a steel type switches in, you have STAB earthquake. Or, maybe you lay out some toxic spikes to grind down your opponent's other Pokemon later. This Pokemon is a GREAT staller who has made many of my opponents rage quit. Its tera type makes it unpredictable and usually allows you to attack or poison a switch-in, from there you can stall. This guy just came back from Ubers but is still a worthy addition to your team that can really mess up any teams lacking coverage for its poison and earthquakes. Its great defensive typing also leaves it with only 2 weaknesses and Earthquake gives it lots of coverage. Try it out!
NOTE: The best counter to this Pokemon is Corvinight, who is totally immune to Gliscor's attacks so be wary.
