Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Mamoswine?

2 votes

Mine has the ability Oblivious and is EV trained fairly well in Sp. Attack. It knows:

Earthquake: Is Earthquake. No reason is needed other than that.

Blizzard: High power, STAB, chance to freeze, used to deal with Grass types.

Stone Edge: High power, good chance for critical hit, used to deal with Fire types.. Deals with Flying types.

Peck: Yes, it knows Peck. Used to deal with Fighting types. Also deals with Bug types.

I know it's used for fighting types but peck still wont be very useful. Using earthquake on them would do MORE damage than peck. Maybe you should have giga impact, double edge or superpower instead.
Piloswine (M) @ Evolution Stone
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Def / 176 SDef
Hardy Nature
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Curse
- Stone Edge

OK, SERIOUSLY, PECK!? It will have to have pretty high sp. attack for blizzard to be any good(and I would get ice beam anyway instead, its much more practical!). But ill Give you a few Mamoswine movesets, as ive been doing lately!

Physical Sweeper: Hail instead of Peck, and your good, he has enough health to set it up! So hail(For Blizzard), Erathquake( POWER!), Stone Edge(UNLIMITED POWER), Blizzard(plus hail, 100 acc)

Staller: Earthquake(!), Toxic(:)), light Screen(since his defenses are pretty low), and Reflect(since his defenses are pretty low).

Hope This Helps!:)

I don't think you need swords dance for unlimited power on a mamoswine. And yes blizzard will be strong even though his special attack is worse.
As I said, mine is fairly well EV trained in Sp. Attack. Maybe I should get another, one with Snow Cloak for added Hail power.
Yours is still good movesets Swampert. However, I don't like Swords DAnce on every Pokemon, Mamoswine can take most foes down already.
Wait, it can't even learn Swords Dance.
It can learn Curse however, which can work great with this moveset:

Curse, Avalanche, Toxic, Earthquake. An Offensive-Defensive moveset. Maybe I'll try that for this one.
Why not Avalanche since you will act last with 80 base speed? And there's also curse on this one.
Good damage, it's physical, it's ice... you get 180 power (with STAB) if you've been hitten before.
Nobody even talks about avalanche... I would like to know why :(
I mean, you can endure some hits in order to blow up your enemy. It would be like a half-kamikaze Sweeper Mamos...

Here's my moveset:

Ability: Snow Cloak
Item: BrightPowder or Life Orb

  • Hail (raises evasion, great with BrightPowder)
  • Earthquake (duh!)
  • Ice Fang (best physical ice move that Mamo can learn)
  • Superpower (covers Rock with super-effective and other weaknesses with regular effectiveness)

icicle crash is the best physical move (best power) and if u set up hail u don't have to care for the 85 accuracy on icicle crash

This guy has seen a TREMENDOUS use ever since the release of the Therian formes of Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus.

Mamoswine (M) @ Choice Band

Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Ice Shard
  • Stone Edge
  • Earthquake
  • Icicle Spear/Crash

I'd change Stone Edge to Superpower but I love this otherwise.

FEARSWINE.

Mamoswine @ Focus Sash (Level 1)

Trait: Snow Cloak

EVs: 252 Speed. That's it.

Hardy Nature

  • Endeavor
  • Ice Shard
  • None
  • None

For use in the Hail. Doesn't work very well against Ice types. Use him on a Hail team, but not against a Hail team. Baton Pass may be a useful +6 Evasion pass to him, for reusing FEAR.

Isn't Mamoswine on level 1 illegal?
Not on PO. We can test, if you want.
Is it supported on servers?

Lead Mamoswine

Mamoswine - Jolly Nature (^Speed -Sp Atk) # Life Orb
+ 252 Atk EVs / 252 Speed EVs / 6 Def EVs

  • Ice Shard (Great priority along with a last hit before you get KO'ed)

  • Earthquake (Crazy damage!)

  • Stealth Rock (If you get a chance to set up, yay!)

  • Rock Slide / Stone Edge (Varies upon your style, with more power less accuracy, or less power more accuracy.)

Mamoswine

Nature: Jolly

Evs: 252 Attack, 252 speed, 6 hp

Earthquake: STAB

Stone edge/Rock slide/stealth rock: power/more reliable/entry hazard

Item: Evolite
Ability: Thick-fat
Nature: Brave/Adamant
EVs: 200 S.Defense, 140 Defense, 170 Hp

Curse
Amnesia
Ice-shard
Earthquake

Curse and Amnesia are for boosting. Ice-shard is for STAB priority. Earthquake is STAB. This is a tank Piloswine.

  • Ability: Snow Cloak/Thick Fat- evasion rise with hail or lowered power of fire and ice moves either ability is great
  • Item: Icy Rock/Icicle Plate
  • Icicle Crash/Avalanche- IC has the most power out of its ice physical moves and avalanche's power will increase due to lower speed and high attack from curse
  • Earthquake- great STAB power
  • Curse/Hail- Curse will boost avalanche because it makes u go last and boosts attack and defense, Hail increases ur SpD and the power of its ice moves
  • Stone Edge- great move to beat a number of types
  • If u go with Snow Cloak stick with Icicle Crash and Hail, if u choose Thick Fat either set works but hail set works better w/ snow cloak for obvious reasons

I like your moveset but utilize his attack a bit more and his low speeds. Taking advantage of them will be very good and make him much better.

Mamoswine:
Ability: Snow Cloak
Item: BrightPowder
Nature: Brave (+Atk,-Spd)
Characteristic: +Attack
Moveset:
Avalanche - STAB, doubles damage when users takes damage first so it compliments his low speeds
Earthquake - STAB, powerful, accurate
Stone Edge/Rock Slide - Coverage, choose between more power or accuracy
Hail/Curse - Hail if you have no hail lead. If so, Curse to lower speed for better chance of doubling Avalanche's damage and boosting it with raised Attack and Defense

Three Movesets... Oneis Special and One is Physical and if you want you could do mixed.

Mamoswine Adamant @Focus Band

  • Earthquake: Stab. Duh... Coverage for Fire , Steel types.

  • Ice Fang: STAB. Good move >.>

  • Peck: Coverage for... Grass.

  • Stone Edge: Good mve OFC. Coverage for Fire.

Physical ^^

Special moveset.

Earth Power: STAB. Good move. Coverage for Fire.

Blizzard: STAB. Good move. Coverage for Grass.

AncientPower: Good move... low attack tho... Coverage for Fire.

Hail: Good I guess...

Mixed moveset.

Earthquake: Mixed moveset only.

Ice Fang: Mixed moveset only.

AncientPower: Mixed moveset only.

Endeavor: Good move for low HP?

Ehhhh.... Good luck >.> All I have to say.

This is my opinion on the moveset for Mamoswine,

Ability: Snow Cloak

Moveset:

Earthquake (STAB and deals with fire type)

Rock slide/stone edge (also deals with fire type
and Flying type)

Ice shard (since Mamoswine has a really high attack stat, ya)

Hail (Because of Snow cloak, his evasion will raise)

I wouldn't call that a move set very suitable for the bulky, physical powerhouse that is Mamoswine. This is the set I run and it's probably not perfect but it works well for me and has gotten me out of some tricky situations. (And really, Peck!?)

Bulky Physical Sweeper

Mamoswine (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Nature: +Atk, -SpAtk

  • Ice Shard
  • Earthquake
  • Iron Head
  • Stone Edge / Rock Slide

This is my favorite set; Ice Shard is great priority and still hits hard with Mamoswine's unbelievable attack boosted by its nature. It takes care of most pesky dragons. Earthquake is a must. Iron Head is great coverage for Fairies, as well as any Rocks that Earthquake can't hit. (Also hits other Mamoswines harder than Stone Edge). Stone Edge is amazing for other Ices, Flyings, Bugs, Fires, and general coverage. This move set makes good use of Expert Belt because you will most likely have at least one super effective attack to choose from, and if you don't then you have earthquake to fall back on.

BTW, you shouldn't be sending Mamoswine out against fighting types anyways.
