Bug (type)

Most Bug Pokemon grow quickly and evolve sooner than other types. As a result, they are often very weak. In Generation I, bugs were almost useless since their attacks were very weak. The situation improved in later games with better moves and an advantage against the Dark type.

Dual-type attack pros & cons

The chart below shows the strength of the Bug type against every type combination. The numbers in the squares show the fraction damage the move will do (i.e. ½ means 50% damage and not very effective, while 4 means 400% - super-effective).

For example, look where the Grass and Poison types intersect to see how good a Bug-type move would be against a pokemon like Venusaur. You will see that it is 100%.
