I know it's terrible in competitive, but just thinking about using it in a playthrough. Any thoughts?

This is a kind of question I think shouldn't be allowed

The only time you can dynamax in a playthrough is in gym battles and boss battles, and it really doesn't make a big difference. Plus, Meowth has awful stats and you would be much much better off investing your Dynamax and party slot into a stronger Pokemon
most likely terrible unless you overlevel it as Meowth doesn't have good stats, the only decent one being speed
I guess it does have Fake Out
You'll probably get a better answer if you ask here: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/orange-islands-sqsa-thread.3603112/
Also why was Monkey's comment flagged?

Obligatory "you can beat the game with anything, so Meowth will work perfectly if you have enough patience!" If you don't value your time, grind Meowth up to Level 100 and play the game. If you do value your time, there are a myriad of better Pokemon to use than Meowth.

G-Max Meowth has...

  • 45 Attack
  • Paper defenses
  • An inability to evolve into anything better
  • He's kind of ugly too

But fear not, Meowth lovers! Not all is lost, for Meowth does have a few things going for it. A varied movepool with options such as Play Rough, U-turn, Body Slam, Shadow Claw, and Gunk Shot might just 4HKO some of the opponents you come across in your travels. And if for some reason you're ever low on money in the out-of-control Galarian economy, you can always use Pay Day or G-Max Gold Rush. Base 90 Speed also means you'll probably be able to get at least one attack off before getting OHKOed.

If you're dead set on using Meowth, it will work -- it just won't work very well. Better Normal types include Snorlax, Bewear, Diggersby, and anything with a pulse. All can do more damage much quicker than Meowth. But if you want to use the funny long cat, have fun. It may make for a unique challenge. Here's a moveset:

Meowth @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Technician
- Body Slam / Slash / Pay Day
- Play Rough
- Fake Out / U-turn
- Seed Bomb / Shadow Claw

Generally you'll only use the level-up moves in that moveset, because who wants to grind TRs for a Meowth?
