A new storyline in the Alola region, more heavily involving Ultra Beasts and Necrozma.

An expanded Alola Pokédex with more than 400 Pokémon available.

New areas to explore in the Alola region, including a surfer beach and a valley full of Pikachu.

The Island Challenge returns but has different trials, including a new trial from Mina.

Improved Rotom Dex that includes similar features to O-Powers like faster egg hatching, increased EXP, and allows Z-Moves to be used more than once per battle.

Mantine Surf allows surfing between the islands of Alola on the back of Mantine. It's also a mini-game where points can be scored for doing flips and tricks.

Alola Photo Club allows the player to take photos with their Pokémon. Includes multiple outfits and decorations. Photos can be shared with friends.
