favourite starter each region:
kanto - Venusaur as its the least infuriating, with charmander, brock is a nightmare and Blastoise does not hit hard enough
johto - Typhlosion as its entire line is great, Meganium deals no damage and has no moves and ruined Bayleef's amazing design, feraligatr is kinda ugly but its Sugimori art looks like its about to drop bars so fire you would think he's a skeledirge and his gen 3 backsprite is something...
Hoenn - in gen 3 I would go with Swampert as Mudkip is perfect but in Gen 6 I would go treecko as the ruined Swampert's mega. Blaziken is neither fast like Sceptile or bulky like Swampert so it is pretty mediocre and Combusken looks like a thing that would pair nicely with Feraligatr's gen 3 back sprite
Sinnoh - Infernape is literally based on Son Wukong, what is there not to love? Torterra is slow and kinda ugly and Prinplup should never look in a mirror and Piplup was annoying in the anime
Unova - Samurott as Oshawott is based, Emboar is ugly and is fire fighting and Serperior cant do anything without contrary, wish Samurott's HA was changed to sharpness like Hisuian form
Kalos - Froakie as greninja is cool and Delphox is ugly( I think it should have been more Zoroark like) and Quilladin is the kid everyone bullied including the teachers and other victims of bullying. For my second starter, I chose Bulbasaur, as squirtle overlaps with Greninja and Mega Charizard Y has drought which negatively affects Greninja.
Alola - Rowlet because borb, decidueye is very very cool. Inciniroar loses all of its speed, looks ugly and is not a Rowlet. Primarina is pretty powerful but is a bit too gendered like Incineroar and is also not a Rowlet
Galar - Inteleon as it has a cool origin and Sobble is cute. Rillaboom line is kind of bare, not enough going on and not cool enough. Cinderace traumatised me
Hisui - Decidueye has an interesting signature move and is a rowlet. Typhlosion looks like it's been using a special kind of smokescreen and Samurott is cool but is not rowlet
Paldea - Fuecoco. There is literally nothing going on inside his lil noggin and I respect that, crocalor is kinda ugly and Skeledirge is great, if you doubt me, there are two things that will change your mind about skeledirge. A. he looks like Danny Devito in crocodile form and B. he has his own pet borb. The other two starters I am not particularly keen on, Sprigatito looks like the stuff Hisuian Typhlosion been using and stands up, Quaquaval looks ugly ngl and Quaxwell is something...
I chose grass 5 times, fire 3 times and water 4 times
