Effects
Sandstorm creates a sandstorm on the battlefield that lasts for 5 turns and induces these additional effects:
- All Pokémon lose 1⁄16 of their max HP at the end of each turn, except Ground, Rock and Steel types and those with the Magic Guard, Overcoat, Sand Force, Sand Rush or Sand Veil abilities.
- From Generation 4 onward, the Special Defense of Rock-type Pokémon is increased by 50%.
- The move Shore Up recovers 2⁄3 of the user's max HP (instead of 1⁄2).
- The power of Solar Beam and Solar Blade decreases by 50%.
- The moves Synthesis, Morning Sun and Moonlight recover 1⁄4 of the user's max HP (instead of the usual 1⁄2 HP).
- The move Weather Ball changes to Rock type and doubles in power.
- Pokémon with the ability Sand Force increase the power of Rock, Ground and Steel type moves by 30%.
- Pokémon with the ability Sand Rush double their speed.
- Pokémon with the ability Sand Veil increase their evasion by 20%.
Z-Move effects
When a Pokémon is holding Rockium Z and uses its Z-Power, Sandstorm turns into Z-Sandstorm and raises Speed one stage, in addition to its usual effect as above.
