Black and White legendaries revealed
Pokémon Black & White — 14 September, 2010
More details have surfaced about the legendary Pokemon from the upcoming Pokemon Black & White - just 4 days away from release in Japan!! First things first - there will be a total of 156 new Pokemon, taking the total to 649.
There are 9 in-game legendaries - three trios - plus 6 event legendaries. We don't have names or images yet, only types and numbers. Some of the numbering is a bit weird so may not be 100% correct.
Legendary Fighting Trio
- #638 is Steel/Fighting.
- #639 is Rock/Fighting.
- #640 is Grass/Fighting.
Raijin trio
Raijin is the Japanese god of thunder and lightning so these Pokemon may be connected with the weather or the elements.
- #641 is pure Flying type, which is a first.
- #642 is Electric/Flying.
- #645 is Ground/Flying.
Dragon trio
Like generation IV there will be a dragon trio.
- #643 will be Reshiram, who is Dragon/Fire.
- #644 will be Zekrom, who is Dragon/Electric.
- #646 is Dragon/Ice and likely to be the subject of the "third game" in the Gen V series.
Event legendaries
Several of these are likely to be released over Wi-Fi.
- #494 (national) or #000 (Isshu dex) is Victini who is Psychic/Fire.
- Zorua and Zoroark (Dark-types) will be given away at real-life events.
- #647 is Water/Fighting.
- #648 is Normal/Psychic.
- #649 is Bug/Steel.
As for the next couple of weeks, we expect Pokemon details to be known pretty quickly. We'll be updating our Pokedex as and when Pokemon are revealed - so stay tuned!
Black & White starter evolutions revealed
Pokémon Black & White — 14 September, 2010
I'm a few days late posting this but never mind. The evolutions of Tsutaja, Pokabu and Mijumaru have been officially revealed in the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine.
Tsutaja's evolution is called Janobii and stays Grass-type.
Pokabu's evolution is called Chaobuu and is Fire/Fighting-type (again!)
Mijumaru's evolution is called Futachimaru and stays Water-type, although it looks like it should be part fighting.

Janobii, Chaobuu and Futachimaru
The following three images have also surfaced, purporting to be the starters' final evolutions, however this is unconfirmed:

Keep your eyes peeled - more news coming soon!
Pokemon Database redevelopment & new content
Site Updates — 04 September, 2010
Things may have seemed a little quiet on the main site for a while, but that's because I have been redeveloping the site for the past few weeks. The biggest change is behind the scenes; we're now using the CodeIgniter PHP framework to power things and the site was basically rebuilt from scratch.
Going forward this should allow for lots more updates to come more quickly, which is good news. But it wasn't just "hidden" changes by any means - we've added a bunch of new content all over the place! It's a lot of small additions but when writing this list they really started adding up. Continue below for the whole list, but it includes a new pokedex with egg moves, tutor moves and forme information, plus a big breeding guide.
I've also made a big addition to PokeBase: a meta
site. Meta is a word referring to the self. After a few months of great questions and answers about Pokemon, it became clear that many users also have questions about this site, including how the Q&A works, or suggestions for new pokedex features.
The meta site is the place to ask all these questions! If you have registered on the main PokeBase site you will get automatically logged in to the meta site. There will be no points on the meta site and it will not affect your points on PokeBase. There may be a few errors here and there but we'll be ironing them out asap.
Changes to PokeBase points
Site Updates — 19 August, 2010
I have made a few changes to the way the user points on PokeBase work. The result of this is that many members points have dropped slightly. It is less than a 10% change, and less than 5% for most members. Nearly every member stayed in the same relative rankings.
The main change that was made is that you now lose 1 point when voting a post down. Previously, members were mistakenly being given a point for down-voting, which is exactly the opposite of what we want! The idea is to discourage pointless down-voting, but still allow everyone to point out incorrect answers though voting. Remember, one point lost is nothing when you have several hundred or thousand points :)
So please continue to use the Pokemon answers knowledgebase as normal, by voting up correct answers and the questions you find interesting/useful, and voting down incorrect answers or off-topic questions. Thanks.
Chat added to PokeBase
Site Updates — 13 August, 2010
It's been one of the most popular requests and sorely needed ever since I opened our great question and answer platform, PokeBase. Now it's open!
You can see it by clicking the 'Chat' link from PokeBase or clicking here. All off-topic chat that's not related to a question or answer should go in here.
There may be some teething problems so be patient if anything doesn't work for you. Feel free to ask questions on Pokebase if something is wrong (don't forget to check if someone else already asked).
More Black & White features confirmed
Pokémon Black & White — 12 August, 2010
More features from Pokemon Black & White have been revealed in recent weeks. I have updated the page with the details, but here's a quick summary:
- The game will have seasons (each lasting one month) that change the game colouring slightly, make different pokemon appear and change some pokemon's appearance (see below).
- There will be triple battles! Pokemon can be rotated, and each position affects different pokemon on the opposing team.
- There is an exclusive region in each game: Black City in Pokemon Black and White Forest in Pokemon White.
- You can earn items to use in multiplayer battles.
- TMs will not disappear after one use, they will be able to be used again like HMs.

Shikijika in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter

More new pokemon have been revealed for Black & White. I've added them to our dedicated page so go there to see the details.

The new pokemon are based on such creatures as a swan, mole and caterpillar
Also revealed is another legendary pokemon, Victini, the Victory Pokemon. It's Psychic/Fire type and unusually holds place #000 in the Isshu Pokedex. It will only be available through a special event.
New wi-fi event: obtain Latias or Latios!
Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver — 29 July, 2010
Starting this Saturday, July 31st and running until August 27th is a new wi-fi event to obtain the Enigma Stone item in HeartGold/SoulSilver.
If you take it to Pewter City Museum you can get it revived into a Soul Dew, which will make either Latios or Latias appear, depending on your version. HeartGold gets Latios, SoulSilver gets Latias.

Pokemon Black & White trailer released
Pokémon Black & White — 29 June, 2010
The first trailer for Pokemon Black & White has been revealed by Japanese variety show Oha Suta
. It reveals a lot more gameplay footage and more Pokémon! You can see the trailer by continuing below. The screenshots here show the new Pokémon.
The image to the left shows a large mole Pokémon, Doryuuzu, and a mantis Pokémon, Ononokusu on the opposing team. On the player's team is Desukan, based on an Egyptian sarcophagus with ghostly arms, and Denchura is the tarantula-based pokemon (very likely Bug/Poison type). A different battle scene includes Moguryu, based on a mole and likely the pre-evolution of Doryuuzu above.
The three Pokémon to the right are currently unknown. The middle one could be a Steel or Rock type and the right one possibly Dark or Psychic.
The trailer shows some of the improved graphics and battle animation. The camera zooms in and out on Pokémon as they make their attacks. It also confirms a new feature: 3-on-3 battles! This could bring a whole new set of tactics to Pokémon.
