What's the point of regular Marowak having Lightning Rod when it already had immunity to Electric?

marowak still benefits from the spatk boost and in double/triple battles marowak can save teammates who struggle with electric attacks by directing them away

Keep in mind Lightning Rod does more than just grant immunity to Electric attacks; it also grants a Special Attack boost to the Pokemon with the ability when hit, AND in a Double Battle, draws all Electric attacks to the Pokemon with the ability, thus saving your partner from a potential death by electrocution. So for those reasons, not only is it not pointless, but it's actually pretty nice to have (in Doubles, at least)

you already answered but I would like to add that when lightning rod was inteoduced, you didn't get the immunity. You would get targetted but still take damage, therefore marowak had an advantage over other lightning rodders by being able to take the attack without consequence
